Carrot & Cargo Pod Issues

Just wasted 6 REAL TIME days playing solo on the Hunting and Fruit Stockpile mission. The Carrots won't go into the ice box unless you cook them... but just discovered the cargo pod won't recognize them if they are cooked. HOW are you supposed to collect 200 carrots as a solo player before they spoil? Secondly, and probably worst of all, the Cargo pod didn't have enough slots for all the cargo. I had my ice boxes in a structure right next to he pod, with exactly the right amount of each item, and yet, when I came to place it in the pod, I could not get the whole order of Pumpkins to go in. I had to leave the mission because the food was spoiling. This ♥♥♥♥ needs to be fixed cos it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.

same here, wish the spoil time wouldn't be that hard joke that it is right now in the game. Doing this mission again.... never ever

I havent decided if I am gonna do it again or not.. Now that I know to get plots down asap in begging.. might not be so hard

I just started this mission again for something to to.
ice boxes work well.
3x iceboxes with a stack of ice in each will last pretty much the entire mission (depending on how long you actually take 7days+)
the fridge is better as it holds 24 stacks (2x icebox's worth)

FYI.. they changed the cargo pods to not spoil anymore
so if you collect and continue to put the items in the cargo pods, they keep indefinitely. No ice boxes or fridges needed anymore.

UNLESS.. they changed it again..

Any idea if they fixed the issue with putting carrots into an icebox yet ?

That I dont know... I havent used the icebox yet but I have seen a lot of people talking about it. How I did the mission, I camped out mainly at the west base for the veggies and did all of my hunting for meat, hide and leather... when I had enough to complete that, I made two trips to the east cargo pod (had a small outpost set up for visits out of stone) and finished that part of mission. Until I sent the pod off, I used it to store veggies until I could run back to the west one. Once the meat mission was complete, then I planted crops and finished off the veggy part.. There are prob easier ways.. but it is how I did it.. and since the pods stop all decay.. just everytime I cooked meat.. I stored it in the veggy pod until I was ready to take it to the meat pod.

I did it a while back with no hassles, other than a system crash requiring me to revalidate my game files, I lost the vegetable part that I had completely finished and around 200 cooked meat, other than that I still completed it in a 3rd of the time limit and even had time to build a fridge, hunting rifle and other stuff.
Am doing the mission again now and am on the veggie part, just built a palisade around my farm, upgraded my work hut to stone and made a rifle, have only spent a few hours doing it.

Ya, I did it in about 3 days instead of the 14 days but I did not build a bunch.. I was concentrating more on leveling than anything..

Am taking my time with this one at the moment.
13 days left and already have a stone base, hunting rifle T3 bow and a palisade around my farm, just started planting, only have 45 crop plots atm, want another 15 or so.
Have levelled about 3 times already though.
The fix with the food spoilage is a game changer :)

OH, the food spoilage is a major game changer.. it lets you relax a bit and enjoy the game. When I started that mission, I was thinking that I was never going to complete it because food was spoiling as fast as I could find it.. 2 days into mission... they fixed it.. LOVED it after that.. would like to go back and build like you are building so I can learn the stuff I dont know how to use yet..

only thing you need to grow is the Squash the rest is easy to find and store in the Drop ship now that nothing spoils in it You basically do everything by the Veggie ship and then store it in DS and when full run the Meat and stuff north to other ship.. rinse and repeat

Yeah I might do this again now they have added refrigeration to the drop-pod. As it was it was a good mission for levelling a new character, now it will just be quicker to complete once they learn the crop plots, no longer needing the ice boxes.
Could find enough Squash too without growing, probably, but they are so much harder to see than the others.

Yes, it is MUCH faster now.. for the first few days before they added the refrigeration, I put stuff in the DS and it spoiled so fast.. it became hard to find pumpkins and watermelons let alone squash so I had to grow it all once they made DS no spoilage.. Now, it is very easy.. I do all the stuff at the veggy base and once I have enough meat, hide, and fur, I make two trips that way and its done :-)

Just completed the veggie part of the mission again, but this time I spent several days building a small storage hut at the actual drop pod I landed in and transferred all my equipment to it bit by bit.
By the time I finished that, the last few melons had grown and I could pick them and leave, only leaving my crop plots and the wall around my farm, gave me most of what I needed to build a new base at the Hunting area and most of the leather and fur for that mission, got a lot of back and forth running to do to get everything there though, but it's 1/3rd of the way closer at least lol
Doing it this way should remove any risk of the veggie part of the mission resetting, because I won't need to return to that area (already mined out all the local caves)

Thats a good idea.. I made my main base near the veggy drop and an outpost at the meat drop. I had to make 2 to 3 trips to the meat drop to get it all up there but you are correct, it would make things much closer.

I know when I would run back and forth to take loads, I would take necessary equipment with me so I only had to build it once.

I also had a few huts along the way to jump into for storms or sleep..
