I like the tech tree's simplicity.
The idea of "upgrading" workbenches is new to Icarus.
Bench "upgrades" may make the tech tree too complicated.
Upgradeable benches may "hide" some functions away from the scope of the tech tree.
These are valid concerns and if the change were haphazard I too would be concerned. While I generally dislike comparing different games, the idea of progression is not unique and let us be honest; what I can craft in my inventory would certainty be craft-able in a workbench.
Not every bench lends itself to consolidation but some of these things are just clutter. My main quips are with not being able to craft inventory items in the workbench and the advanced workbench not being able to do what the basic workbench can do. This salt bench is just another thing that could have been in the food prep.. but the cement mixer has a valid purpose.. as does the fabricator.
Same. I would be either we upgrade the workbench in similar to other games or building/crafting a better better that able to do the previous with more stuff so that we can replace the former
