Seen much better looking games styled like this for half the price.
Ah, that would explain the huge price jump.
When third party games release on the Switch they typically deliberately mark up games by as much as 200%. In some cases little indie games straight up priced as AAA products.
So yea, just saying that is a no-go for me.
I believe that's the case here?
Doing the versions had the game at a lower cost of entry at $20 for half the playable cast (at the time).
This version also appears to include two more playable characters beyond the original 4.
Also, for what it's worth, several mixed reviews I read about the game when it originally launched mentioned balancing issues, and lack of content, but the developers kept updating and adding content to the game since launch, so at least part of those complaints should have been tackled.
The Steam version launches with version 3.0.0, which includes further tweaks, and 2 new playable characters.
Does it? The description says "Choose from four playable characters (Empress, Warrior, Shinobi, or Witch) and defeat your enemies to gain experience and level up".
The 3.0.0 update, that is already included on the Steam version, includes 2 new characters (on the switch, one of the characters if free for everyone, the other apparently it's only for those who own a certain DLC; both are included on the Steam version, since it includes everything).
You can find more details on these characters on the official website:

back in the old days split would sacrafice frame rate to make that happen. where in age where frame rate reduce is less tolerated.
technically you do have lan mode. its called playing this on the Nintendo switch.
So of the characters like the Ninja and the Witch are more interesting than others like Empress and Warrior, but frankly try them all and pick whoever you like even the simple characters have some appeal.
You can play through the main story relatively easily afterwards the dlc storyline is a decent way to leve but eventually you'll reach a wall where you just have to grind super hard for a super rare loot drop.
I picked it up a year after launch $20. I thought it was probably worth about that. Would be better in multiplayer imo.
I would say it would be worth it if that major issue was fixed, and if it's sale price was it's permanent base price and there was a sale on that right now.
I mean it's like 10 - 20 hours of co-op gameplay it's not a super short game like a lot of indie games are.
Edit: I should add, they had the online issue since switch and still a have not fixed it, so odds are they never will....for that reason I say avoid it until the price comes down.
I second the sentiment. It is a good metroidvania in single-player. It just feels underwhelming to buy something with the knowledge that it doesn't have one of its key selling points.
