Game refuses to recognize Xbox 360 controller
No matter the settings, the fixes, the workarounds, for some reason DMFD stopped recognizing my controller, when it worked for the 50 hours of playtime I have in this game.

I've tried forcing it as the default in my PC, no other controllers attached, Steam configs on, off, default, everything.

It used to work fine, but now it just doesn't anymore.

Didn't play for that long, just started playing recently buttttttt I stumbled upon a post the other day and it worked for me. Initially my problem was that the game never recognized any of my controllers.

If you can, check your controller settings on steam. Lets say you have 1 controller connected but it shows 2 devices, for example X Box Controller and 2 axis 8 button controller. If it does, then you had the same issue that I did. I'm still not quite sure what new device caused the issue but I'm thinking its my new keyboard from corsair. Anyways down to explaining how to fix it.

What I had to do is go to my computers device manager and go to the Human Interface Devices. You're gonna want to right click and disable any "HID-compliant consumer control device", "HID-Compliant game controller", and "HID-compliant vendor-defined device".

A couple of them might require you to restart your system when you disable it but just disable all of them before you restart the computer.

After I did that, it worked fine for me. Here was the weird part though. It took me a few days to find a post to resolve this and for me to stumble upon this was to figure out why I had a "2 axis 8 button" device detected on steam. Also the other fact that all my other games can still use my controller before but Dragon Marked for Death was unable to do so.

Anyways, I hope this helped you out because this was bothering me for a couple of days trying to get my controller to work with this game and I almost lost hope.

I do not have the game installed at the moment, but it is a fix I haven't seen before, so thank you for the helpful reply! :D

Ah I see, no problem! Although if it does happen to any other game(which probably is a rare thing to happen), I do have to say. Any HID can be for some keyboard features, if you have something like a Elgato Stream Deck, or even a AIO CPU cooler, it will disable that too if you choose the right one. Unfortunately since there isn't some sort of description for any of them, you just gotta disable and then pay attention to see if any of your devices turn off.

Hope your games go well! :steamhappy:

Any input USB device can unfortunately steal DMFD's attention. I have a 3D Connexion space mouse, and while it's connected the game doesn't recognise I have a controller plugged in either. Same if I have my HOTAS plugged in. As others mentioned, a stream deck counts as a controller with buttons (because of possible knobs). Easy first thing to try when looking to fix your controller issues is unplug anything USB besides your mouse and keyboard. Then start plugging things in, beginning with your controller.
