Please implement cross-play with the Switch version!
It is amazing that this Steam version will give the game a whole new audience on a different platform, but there is an unfortunate risk of the current playerbase becoming split up across two platforms/people dropping the Switch version. This would be fine if everyone could still play together, but we still have heard nothing on cross-play online between the two platforms, and I worry it will do more to harm the game's community than help it.

PLEASE show your support for a cross-play feature by replying and let's hope it gets added in post later down the line.

They did say "maybe one day", though, meaning that if there is enough demand for it they could implement it in the future.

Crossplay is not as simple as it seems, it's taking a netcode to a whole new level and create compatibility between the two. And since Switch is so more blackboxed than PC, it should be more complex for sure.

That's irrelevant, this is entirely up to how much time and resources is Inti Creates willing to spend on crossplay. It's no more difficult to have crossplay with the Switch than with say, iOS or the Xbox One, it's all up to how platform agnostic their "Netcode" is.

I'm pretty sure you know jack nothing of netcoding, k then.

the problem I think, is that it's more up to nintendo than inti.
I think on switch they're using nintendo's servers.

Wargroove is cross platform play between switch and steam. I don't see why it can't be done here either.

PC players will ruin the Switch experience anyway by cheating. Cross play is nice but we have a major problem in the PC community.

Chucklefish has more money than Inti, plus Wargroove is turn-based, so good netcode is low-priority.

Uhm.. Warframe, Rocket League, Dauntless and Paladins is all cross platform. 3 of these are F2P, and it works without much issues.. There are more, but these are the ones I tried.

And all four of these examples were created with crossplay in mind. Warframe was designed in collaboration with Sony for console release. Rocket League literally turned on crossplay by accident once, proving its systems were designed for it. Dauntless was developed for console and PC simultaneously. Noticing a pattern here?

Inti Create does console games and then ports them. There is a world of difference between planning for crossplay from the get-go and trying to make two completely independent netcodes play nice with each other after the fact.

i believe PC updates more frequently compared to switch. and since versions has to match for online play, update will slowdown for one platform because it has to wait for the other. edit: when cross-play do happen for this game

As far as i know, Warframe no longer cross-plays with PS4 because PS4 updates is way slower than PC and couldn't keep up; so Warframe Devs decided to just separate them. I haven't touched Warframe in years so i'm not sure if this is still the case.
