Game is dead. Game creators have vanished. No updates. Absolute trash. hopefully you can get a refund
Looks like they forgot to pay their bill. what a shame.

Servers are currently down
Servers are currently down for unplanned maintenance ahead of schedule. Servers were meant to to go down for a planned maintenance around 19th due to service providing contract ending, but it happened earlier than expected on the 13th. We were not ready for it, and are currently moving server infrastructure to a different solution. Servers will be down until further notice.

And they forgot to inform us how bad and evil they are.:steambored:

Why can't it be similar to Nova-logic games, having players create/host servers? Map editors? Unless meaning servers that facilitate for other back end of things?

It would be nice if the game started again.

Same bad guys from dfx2 nova server, so you can forget it that the game will started again.

Could the makers say a few words, because...
damn. I've been checking on this one constantly
From the devs:

To everyone in the TFE Community,
With heavy hearts we, the Red Spear Studio Team, bring you the following news:

The RSS Team no longer possesses any rights to the intellectual property of Task Force Elite, and as such we are winding down operations. This is due to the inability to meet the financial and other obligations to the proprietary ownership. While we retained operational control of the project for some time, the formal handover of all assets is being processed this week.

First, we want to apologise for the long silence. Many of you have been left wondering about what happened behind the scenes. Unfortunately, during our negotiations to continue the project and save TFE's situation, due to certain negotiation and confidentiality agreements, we couldn't communicate as openly as we would have liked. We will continue to respect the privacy of everyone involved.

We're deeply sorry for the confusion and frustration this has caused. Now that the RSS team is shutting down and disbanding, we would like to share as much information with you as we can.

As many of you know, when we first embarked on this journey, TFE took heavy inspiration from the classic FPS games we all love. This is our origin: a community project. For a long time, certain IPs seemed defunct and essentially vaporware. However, that is no longer the case, but we still do not see ourselves reflected in the gameplay direction of these new franchises or any other modern games on the market.

With a breath of new life, our team explored various ways to ensure TFE's future through intellectual property protection, negotiating licences, seeking investors and crowdfunding, among others. Ultimately, these avenues proved unattainable at this stage of the project.
We put in our best efforts to finalise a purchase agreement for the TFE intellectual property. While we had hoped to keep development alive under RSS leadership and had worked to explore multiple paths, we were met with significant challenges, such as the constantly evolving FPS landscape, the economic developments of the video game industry, and the global economy, which has touched all of our lives, without exception. It became significantly more difficult to raise the necessary resources and, despite having a couple of close calls, we were unable to secure the necessary rights or funding.

We mentioned a Kickstarter campaign in the past and this sparked hope. In retrospect, we announced it prematurely. We didn’t yet have the intellectual property locked down and signed, and without clear ownership, we couldn’t legally run a crowdfunding campaign. We realise this was a letdown for many of you, and we take full responsibility for that misstep.

Many team members poured their hearts into the project, working unpaid or even leaving jobs and holding off from new opportunities, because we believed in the hope and this project’s potential for the acquisition of the IP. You, the community, have stuck with us through these numerous tests and challenges, throughout the years. We regret that we couldn't fully deliver on the goals and objectives we set for ourselves and for the project, like the promised Kickstarter or the full roadmap. However, we want you to know we did everything in our power to make TFE a reality and make the best out of the ever-increasing complexity of our first project; we had private development builds in mostly working order within the newer versions of the engine.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to this journey: developers, testers, and, most importantly, the dedicated players who kept this game alive. We know many of you also poured your hearts into TFE, testing alpha builds, offering feedback, and spending your time and money. We’re truly sorry we couldn’t take TFE across the finish line. We want you to know that our passion for TFE was never in question.

To every dedicated player, tester, and supporter. Your passion has been the beating heart of TFE from day one. Many of you spent countless hours enjoying the classic gameplay, memories, and milestones together. While it’s hard to say goodbye, we hope you remember TFE as a testament to what a small, passionate community can build.

Though this chapter ends for us as part of TFE, the passion for old-school tactical shooters remains alive in many of us. Some team members may pursue entirely new projects, carrying and embracing forward the spirit that made TFE special. We encourage you to stay tuned for any announcements or statements from individual devs if you wish to follow or support their journey.

Thank you all for being part of this journey with us; your passion alongside our determination has been inspiring and kept this project alive for longer than we could have imagined.
