Initially I wanted to romance Sym but had high relationship with Dys. Dys became my secret admirer and I found it out. It wasn't that much of a surprise because by that time I had high relationships only with him and Sym. My friends were Tangent, Anem and Cal.
Dys became my boyfriend, and I also flirted a LOT with Rex plus a tiny bit with Tang. I also broke up Anem and Vace just because I hate Vace and want Anemone to be free of toxic relationship.
Then Sym romantic event started, and I couldn't romance him because my character was in a relationship with Dys. So I reloaded the save, broke up with him and started a romance with Sym... then I also started a romance with Tang. Just because. I also convinced Dys to not use a bomb and not become a Gardener which is super awkward considering what crap I did to him before that.
Then I spectacularly failed to form a pact between humans and Gardeners. Everyone left me - both Tang and Sym. Dys just walked away and never returned. Anemone married Cal... and then died. And Dad died. And Cal died. And Tang. Everyone freaking died. Except Sym. I don't know how he managed to do that, but Overseer told me they would deactivate and reabsorb Sym if the pact fails. Well, it did. And Sym wasn't killed. Amazing, Sym is a true chad of this walkthrough. He not only played reverse Uno on me for ditching Dys but also managed to outlive everyone.
Though serves me right, I guess...
Okay so I let Dys blow up the wall and found him in the ridge then managed make him come back to the colony. One month after that I triggered finding out about the genocide plague Tang was making. Okay so I could just use my high friendship to make Tang not go through with it but hey I do have high enough friendship with Dys to make him go talk with his sister about not killing everything so lets do that instead! I haven't fixed their bond yet but im sure everything will work out just fine! ...Yeah turns out Dys's idea of talking with his sister is blowing up the entire engineering building. So I reloaded my save. God d*mmit Dys.
I feel like every time I do something while out there exploring... Sym is always in the background, laughing at every mistake I made. It seems like you had met the same unfortunate fate as I do... it's okay, I did have the last laugh during the Array ending, but only then...
...I also romance Dys whenever I don't romance Sym or at least stop Dys from leaving so Sym can never experience the taste of human's love. Yes, I'm petty.
LOL this happened to me the first time. I convinced Dys to not even blow up the wall the previous year and then I got the confrontation with Tang about genocide. I decided to go tell Dys because he's my MC's boyfriend at the time and I wanted him to talk to his sister, maybe they'll even make up somehow.
Nope. No talking. Just a lot of explosion.
Ah yes, Sym's "death". I do wonder why we don't get a timeloop option to be completely not surprised when Sym "dies" again and "is alive" again.
Sol (probably): "No human sausage for you, Sym!"
Well, technically, he does lurk at the background and smile when you're exploring. I had event with MC, Dys and him when Sym was teasing them about how close they are to truth but he still wouldn't tell them anything. It's on Ridge map, boss event with ruins.
Actually my first ending was a cure one, so Sym kinda kicked the bucket (or got stuck as data without a body; I dunno whether the virus affected their servers), lol. No wonder he decided to not tempt his fate the second time when I reloaded and canceled Cure ending.
That's also the ending where I unlocked the peaceful ending, so I apparently did a lot of things right (but I barely paid attention to Vace and Anemonae so I got nothing of their endings...)
