Multiple Romantic Partners
So I'm on my first run and dating Marz. The option to date Tang popped up, so out of curiosity I took it (with a prepared save) because I was curious whether there'd be any indication that this is cheating or a polyamorous relationship. It then proceeded without clarifying in any manner that I noticed.

So does anyone know what happens if you are dating multiple people? Are relationships in this game monogamous and this would be considered cheating, or is there a later scene that would clarify what we're dealing with here? Or does the game just not mention it?

Polyamoury is a thing in this game. As to how it goes about it... I dunno.

When I dated Tangent, I did get a scene where her and Marz run off to have sex. So it's there, and presumably there are routes where it involves you, but I haven't found any yet.

Do you know if the polys are fixed (i.e., they have to be with specific pairings of individuals) or if they're free-form (i.e., "pick two, any two")?

Neat. That's what I was curious about. Thanks.

They're fixed.

At around age 17, pretty much all the eligible candidates pair off. This means that you have to sniff out the Polys and inject yourself into their relationship.

If I had one complaint about this is that you basically can't romance anybody until AFTER they hook up with other people, even if you literally spent your whole life with them. It irks me. Prime example is Nem. I probably would have taken it better if it weren't for the secret admirer event. About half way though age 16, the bachelor/bachelorette that likes you the most will give you a nifty bracelet thing and the game even makes you go hunt them down. So like Vace has been all up on her and like whatever. If this were a real life situation, fine. She chose. I ain't saying someone should be forced to be with anybody else, but that stupid secret admirer event just makes it feel so awkwardly forced. The Content Warning page straight up tells you that Vace and Nem get together, so why not make a thing around that? Why is Nem giving that gift to the MC when obviously she's more into Vace? It's very obvious that she only sees you as a friend until you break her out of her relationship with Vace. It's just so friggin weird and, like IMO, poorly written.

Okay, got that out of my system. Rest of the game is great. Sorry for puking on your forum post.
If you want some spoilers these are 2 other poly options I've seen

Sym and Dys (ending slide only tho) & Rex and Vace although you're mostly just fwb to both of them and have to 'choose' eventually

I haven't figured it out but I feel like there's a way to date Nomi and Rex, Marz and Rex, and Tammy and Cal

Aw, no Tang+Nem, then.

Oh, that DOES sound awkward, to say the least.

I haven't got the game yet, because I'm currently juggling so much stuff that things in my free time have an ACTUAL QUEUE, but I'm getting it as soon as I'm not spinning so many plates, because I played the demo and the experience really was great. Even if it took me like 5 minutes blinking at the screen to process the contradiction between the cute artstyle and the fact THAT A KID DIES! And she's your FRIEND! And now she's DEAD! And you got some candy for her and you can't give it to her because SHE DIES AND NOW SHE'S DEAD! And then you BREAK DOWN HER BODY FOR SOIL! BECAUSE SHE'S DEAD!

I swear, I haven't experienced tonal backlash this hard since I watched Kick-Ass and it took me half the sequence of Hit Girl murdering people to process Hit Girl was murdering people because it's done at the sound of a kid's cartoon song.

just finished a play through where i was dating Marz, then flirted with Rex (cause how can you not?) and he asked to be in a relationship and after i think the second "blackout scene" you can ask to have Marz join next time and he says yes. i didn't find it to actually happen in game, but the end credits did say i was with both of them at the same time.

Not every character is open to poly relationships. In fact, most aren't. I think Marz, Rex, Sym and Tang are the ones who don't raise a conflict if you start seeing someone else.

There's multiple options. I was dating Dys, and the option came up to be FWB with Tang and it let me do it with no issues. So he doesn't seem to care if you're sleeping with his sister

I wish you could end up with both Tammy and Cal. :steamsad:

Re: The Secret Admirer Event, the first time I got that far with was also with Nem, who then went to be with Vace.

I was also very confused - esp on realizing both of these events are time-based - but at this point I've come to the conclusion that this is actually a DELIBERATE move on Vace's part, or at least a motivated one: he's swooping in to 'take' Nem before the feelings between the two of you can fully actualize. Given the various Nem endings I've seen, the way the breakup works out (initiated by Vace getting jealous over her closeness with you), and the dialogue she has when you actually get together, I don't think there's any way to avoid them being together first, unfortunately.

I could be incorrect, but given the context and conversations that come up, I think it's at least a pretty accurate assumption.

Also, the first time I dated Rex, when Dys finally made a move? Rex went 'hey good for you'! and dumped me on our next conversation, which was a bit of a surprise given the canon poly relationship re: Cal's parents. xD
