What doom does Hdoom work on and how to implement it

So I have been wanting to download hdoom for myself so I went out and got doom 64, thinking it was for that. Then I see a bunch of people using The Ultimate edition and then I see people talking about the 2016 doom. Help!

When you see or hear about a mod for doom google first it like "how do i use X mod for doom?" (being X the name of the mod) so you get the right source port and game for such mod.

now HDOOM only works for Gzdoom and any classic doom game (Ultimate Doom, Doom2, Plutonia, TNT) for DOOM64 wouldnt work because its different engine despite have the same gameplay and isnt supported in Gzdoom/Zdoom (there are mods of doom64 for such port but that doesnt mean is doom64)

so you could run hdoom with a Doom 64 TC that runs off the doom2.wad

though... what is hdoom? :(

If anyone is thinking about it, it's probably not a good idea to try an implement\develop a version of Hdoom for a Doom 64 PC Port. It would be more towards the (word censored for public sanity\safety) side if you wanted to do it that way...

If you're referring to the infamous HDoom total conversion then it is a mod for Doom 2. You'll need a source port (Google GZ Doom,) the original DOOM2.wad file and the HDoom modification.

You'll have to buy a copy of Doom 2 for the .wad file, if you haven't already.
