It was designed for the n64 which didn't have an online component, so it's probably not part of the engine at all, as opposed to the other Dooms which were all for pc.

These guys made doom in 1993 and it had online coop, you can't just say that it's impossible, if anyone knows how to make a game have a coop mode it's id

I'm not saying it's impossible to implement, simply that they had no reason to do so being for the N64, this is just a port. I'm not sure who handled the port itself, but it's not a feature that was added in the end. Not that I wouldn't enjoy some coop Doom64. Maybe a mod will come out at some point who knows.

The n64 console had no internet connection. No games on the n64 had internet multiplay.

The N64DD had internet so that's no excuse

It had an internet connection for other purposes, but it wasn't used for cartridge based games, and none of them had any online component to begin with, just the 10 or so disk games that were for the DD until it was a failure (also only available in Japan). If doom64 was originally splitscreen at least, then they'd have a good base for having online coop in this version.

The N64DD had come out wayyy after Doom 64 was already released. Plus Doom 64 runs on a different version of the engine Doom 1 and 2 ran on, which had long forgone internet play due to iterations with previous consoles. And unfortunately source code for the Doom 64 engine was lost long ago.

Huh. A bananajane thread.

As usual, zero logical arguments from the banana.

Yeah but this isn't an N64 and isn't a direct port, it uses a third party engine now.

No but the code it was ported from had no multiplayer so the port wouldn't either.

that's like saying PSX doom shouldn't have good music because pc doom didn't have good music

This is what we in the trade call: FAITHFUL PORT.
If it wasn't in the original game, there is no reason to put it in there.
This is not extended edition, remaster, redux or reloaded...its is DOOM 64.

If you bought this for multiplayer you failed to read the store description.

On a side note: That online peripheral known as the 64DD didn't come out 2.75 years after the release of DOOM 64, and only saw 9 supported games.

You're not familiar with the term "faithful port" are you?

The 64DD never came out in North America.

That's not even relevant, you guys are acting like people that can build a spaceship but then being unable to fix a flat bicycle tire
