Second Front
How is this compared to JT/WDS?
How is this compared to JT/WDS? Only thing missing from WDS games is solid 3d graphics and UI that doesn't require pressing buttons all the time to look how far your troops can see and where you can move. Does this game have better UI? The game play seems similar. How is it different?

For me I think none of his newer entries ever matched Campaign series from the 90s. I think I may give this game a try cause I wanted a more enhanced version of those games.

my advice is buy it NOW! the games sound and aninmation also is great, its very much like playing ASL but an action version of it, the stats are in graphical form to. uts so interesting even just looking at a scenario you play it out. and there are tons of scenarios made by users for free on workshop. and there is a nice AFRIKA KORPS dlc soon

I hope you will consider posting what you like about Second Front in the Steam review section.

More so, how does this compare to Tigers on the Hunt, by Matrix Games Publishing? TotH Is based on ASLSK so I am curious as to how this stacks up and more Importantly how good the AI Is.

BTW, I already own TotH, reason why I am asking.

Thanks

I thought TotH was OK. It seemed very quirky in its UI. I also had a very difficult time getting it to run on my 4K screen. In fact, I uninstalled it because it wouldn't work. Even with downscaling to a lower resolution, I had serious performance issues around the LOS calculations. Its already been moved into the archives at Matrix so assuming all development is done on it.

Found this on Matrix...

"I understand your wish of adding the resolution but unfortunately there will be no addition of new supported resolutions in the game. Peter had an unfortunate bad health issue a couple of years ago, he is recovering but won't/can't do any further development."

Thats too bad all the way around. Hope he fully recovers.

Ouch, that Is bad news! I was In their forum yesterday downloading some ASL art, and the latest update (v1.1.21) of which you have to download manualy as well as Install It.

Yes the resolution Is a bit of a bumer cuz I am on 2560x1080 (16:9), IIRC he added 2560x1600, and theirs 2560x1440 so yeah to bad for that.

Same here, hope he recovers, and then maybe he goes further In development.

I bought SF yesterday so will see how SF goes. Thanks for you´re thoughts, and yeah the UI Is a bit frustrating I am afraid (TOTH).

Biggest difference between them that immediately is apparent is the ease of use of the SF interface. I found it a pain to work in TotH, but was able to do everything in SF within minutes of starting it up.

Beating the AI regularly - not so fast. SF's AI is pretty wicked :-)

ya JTS/WDS can be obtrusive.

I play JTS, WDS, SF and more. SF has a more challenging AI I find.

What that Redmark guy said. Second Front is a lot like a refined version of Squad Battles, IMO.

Not a knock on WDS or squad battles, I love those games and play them a ton.

I have both. It's about the same as comparing your kids. Good luck on that one :)
