Random scenario generator?
Or do we have to play the same stock scens over and over?

Steam Workshop, won't be long before every single engagement of the war is recreated by fans.

Sounds good, but doesn't answer my question..;)

There is none. And I'm 'your kind of people' in that I LOVE me some random maps, random missions, etc.

That being said, this really is a fun, lengthy game with what's gonna be a gargantuan library of custom-made scenarios as time goes on.

If random is a dealbreaker, just know that it (usually) is for me, too. But I find this game well worth the exception.

Same here. I wish it had a random scenario generator or at least a random map maker. Having said that, the game appears to be a lot of fun.

Okay I just bought the game..:)

as of right now, there are 4 new scenarios in workshop (plus one joke scenario). And thats in 9 hours...

Yeah, looking at the scenario builder, I agree: there will be a TON of them as soon as people get their teeth into it. We'll be spoiled for choice in a month or two.

One day tally = 20 new scenarios in workshop. Some of them are actually pretty good, while others show signs of people exploring how the editors work - hope those lead to good scenarios being built eventually too :-)

Would be really interested to see what you think of it, Spike, in contrast to the Troop which I know is one of your favourites.

Personally not keen on the graphics but there seems to be some solid gameplay from what I have seen in the manual. Haven't decided to buy, yet.

I can't see myself ever liking 2F better than Troop for the simple reason there's no random mission generator in 2F and I'd get bored playing the same scens over and over, even if there were a zillion scens, whereas with Troop Skirmish mode you get a different enemy AI force coming at you every time.
Also, I'm not too keen on 2F's simplistic graphics, and the gameplay is a bit too complex for my taste., but I'll dabble with it from time to time and maybe it'll grow on me..:)

I noticed @PootOldSpike has come over from Troop discussion thread.

The scenarios or battles in campaign are different every time you play them as well, so they aren't scripted which I thought was pretty cool.

Yes I haven't completely abandoned 2F and might keep dabbling with it..:)

I haven't played The Troop in awhile since they are still developing it.

An simple option would be to remove a percentage of the enemy units at the start of the game. That would give you a different game every time, and variable difficulty.
In fact you could do that with a simple Python script on the .scen file. I should try that.

What type of file is .scen ?
