Why no dirt?
People have been asking for a decade for there to be dirt,,, the whole "sawdust with stone" or with sand isnt cutting it. Dirt would be useful

I don't have much of an answer, besides that I'm not opposed. But we have a lot of elements that do a lot of things, having dirt for the sake of having dirt doesn't interest me. Perhaps if it had one or two interesting properties it could get added.

Dirt + Seed + Water = Plant
Dirt + Water = Mud

Mud + Sand = Quicksand

I mean the very ground you walk on is dirt, literally almost everything on earth is covered by dirt, the earth is even named after dirt

As a newcomer, I was lookingfor dirt, too. I had to go here to found there is none ?
Can't agree more than it would be a welcome addition, as I can't seem to make one using the other particules of the game.

"Soil, also commonly referred to as earth or dirt, is a mixture of organic matter, minerals, gases, liquids, and organisms that together support the life of plants and soil organisms. Some scientific definitions distinguish dirt from soil by restricting the former term specifically to displaced soil."

Thanks, but how do you simulate some dirt in the game ? Like a brown thing allowing to make some mud with water, some hard soil, etc. ?

Until it's added you cant. Devs have refused to add it for over 10 years for no logical reasoning

Clay dust more or less acts in the way your asking for. When wet it becomes paste which is a liquid. That and mixing in stone, sand and dust gives a nice ground. Additionally you can color them all to make it brown if you'd prefer.

You cant mix clay dust with stone or dust..... you realise it just sits on top right? This is why we want dirt and have been asking for 10 years

Remembered shortly after posting, though it can mix with concrete and sawdust. A clay dust that can be mixed with those other materials doesn't seem to have much use to me, though if it acted as a sponge I could see that being useful.

I think the issue is a lack of uses and properties to give it.
What would dirt's melting point be? Would it turn into something once cooled?
What reactions would it have? Could it be created?
A lot of elements added recently at least have some use case, such as lithium acting as a proper battery, or Platinum's immense number of uses. I feel like dirt would end up just being used as a sand reskin, effectively.
