So far Avianos and Punch Hell are my favs, and yeah Punch Hell can be frustrating at times
In no particular order...
Top 5 :
Rock On! Island (There's a strange joy playing a tower defence game that feels like it predates the genre)
Pilot Quest (I liked returning between other games to progress, pretty cool)
Rail Heist (unique mechanics and weird amount of depth, shame i can't work out how to do level 9)
Night Manor (kinda buggy but horror and point + click games are my jam)
Party House (unique and addictive)
Bottom 5;
Ninpek (not big on endless runners + reminded me of a less good Psycho Soldier)
Cyber Owls (having 4 games a bit below the quality standards of the other 50 was a weird choice)
Onion Delivery (wanted to like it but hated the car handling)
Waldorf's Journey (felt like one of those rage games made for Twitch streamers)
Hot Foot (was just a bit crap, not sure what they were going for)
#1 Valbrace combat brings a huge smile to my face)
#2 Rakshasa this game just slaps. Contra vibes.
#3 Pilot Quest Entertaining though it's not the most exciting game on the cart
#4 Hyper Contender I love SMB3 PVP mode so I love this
#5 Cyber Owls Cheetahmen anyone?????
Worst game so far is Mooncat. It's like Death Stranding if you had to play with DK Bongos. Onion Delivery seems super difficult even after I got over the control learning curve. Not my cup of tea but I'd love to see a skilled player playing it.
1. Mooncat - Once it clicks, it CLICKED. Going for Cherry atm.
2. Warp Tank - This game is massive. I can't wait to 100% it.
3. Night Manor - My first cherry/game completion, I really enjoyed it and felt compelled to beat it in one sitting.
4. Campanella 1 (excited to play the others)
5. Elfazar's Hat - AMAZING shoot em up. My favorite here for sure, working on the Cherry.
Worst games (this is more like games I couldn't get into yet or just initially was not a fan -
1. The diving JRPG game. Perhaps I will like this one more if I delved deeper into it (heh)
2. Cyber Owls - I'm sad none of the levels clicked for me like the 49 other games in the bundle. The art style is awesome though. The mechanic when a character dies is just weird
3. Hyper Contender - While I red carted this and liked it....and I appreciate what it is. I still just was not a massive fan. I can definitely get why people like this one though.
4. Bushido - honestly probably really fun in VS but the final level AI was one of the most frustrating things ever lol. The game itself is fine.
5. Paint Chase. Not completely unfun, but I feel like it drags and I am not looking forward to the cherry.
1.Seaside Drive: This one is short and sweet, with a pretty unique mechanic for a shooter, and some of the best music in the pack.
2.Campanella 1: Also a nice short and sweet score based game. real tight controls, and figuring out the route to get all coffee was fun. first game I cherry cleared.
3.Mooncat: I concerning picked up on the controls pretty quickly, once you have it figured out, Mooncat actually provides some of the most fluid movement for a platformer on the collection.
4.Valbrace: Or whatever the name of the dungeon crawler is. punch out style combat is fun, and the way spells work with drawing sigils, and that you can experiment to find them without being told is pretty neat.
5.Porgy: Metroidvanias or whatever you happen to call the genre are some of my favorite kinds of games, and Porgy is a pretty solid one in terms of presentation.
For the worst
5.Big Bell Race: Not really a bad game, just one that I'm never going to replay after cherry completing since I don't have anybody to play multiplayer with.
4.Velgress: or whatever inverted downwell is called. unlike downwell there is no real places for breathing room for you to actually figure out a plan of action to keep moving. there's no satisfying combo mechanic like Downwell. and despite using more colors for sprites than Downwell it looks worse.
3.Ninpek: Just kinda boring all around. I get why it has a lot of the limitations it has, and from a "lore" aspect that is kinda neat. but that doesn't make the game any more fun. this is the only game on the collection where I felt adhering to limitation didn't bring anything to the table.
2.Magic Garden: I do not get why so many people like this game. the controls are unresponsive where turns won't register until a square before, sometimes jumps will just stop above an enemy for no reason, enemies will fake their tells and move in front of you even when they make a gesture to move in the opposite direction. when trying to set down potions to set up a combo sometimes will spawn on top of you, wasting it immediately. the concept of the game is pretty great, Snake+Pacman, but there's just so many problems with actually playing it that it becomes annoying.
1.Koala Sokaban: It's Sokaban. worse than being frustrating like magic garden, this game is boring. I will never touch it again.
Top 5:
- Avianos
- Party House
- Big Bell Race, wish it was longer tho
- Quibble Race, same
- Lords of Diskonia, kind of grindy but good
Bottom 5:
- Porgy, I’m sorry, I cannot get over a female Indian marine biologist protagonist in a game from 1986. Try again.
- Paint Chase
- Combatants, maybe I just haven’t given it a full chance but it kicked my butt and not in a good way
- Campanella 3, I get what they’re doing, but it hasn’t been fun in multiple attempts
- Mini & Max blaghhhhh
