How long is Pilot Quest? And does it get better?
Not really a fan of this one so far. I don't like idle games in general, and the combat is so clunky and awkward. Even the most basic enemies have WAY too much health and aren't worth fighting. Currently saving up for a yoyo upgrade hoping it makes combat at least somewhat more tolerable.

I just found my first dungeon, so I am wondering how many dungeons there are, as well as if the game gets any better.

Took me 3.5h to cherry. Of course offline time is not included so if you count that it will be like way longer. There are 3 main dungeons total. I chose to just ignore all the mobs that annoy me, you're better off getting good loot from chests or pots.
Ottfried Sep 29, 2024 @ 6:05am
3 dungeons and the combat stays that way.
I personally don't like it for the reasons you mentioned. I look into the game from time to time, but not because I enjoy it. It feels like I have to in order to not waste anything. I'm nearly done with it and will never touch it again afterwards xD

It's not a super fun game, but it's enjoyable with the right mindset. Yes it is very clunky, but it is by design, emulating... Clunky bird-view Genesis and SNES titles.

Complete the "Shy friend" quest by exploring caves and you'll get an useful tool that brings more excitement out of the battles.

As Ottfried mentioned, map out where the chests/pots are and aim for those when in the wilds, they can fill up your Meat and Coins supply very quickly.

Oh, wait, hang on; those 3 dungeons are all of them?

Oh. Umm. I think I may be stuck on that game, then. Finished the dungeons, got all the ship part, but I've yet to find any way to get a bunch of the resources. I suppose I could farm coins and keeping going to that one eye guy thing to buy science, but... surely that's not the intended way? And where do I get the string stuff?!?

...There's probably a guide, isn't there? I'll check the guides. Cheers!

SCIENCE: There's a gear somewhere on the world map at a dead end. If you explore everything, you can't miss it. Give it to your science engineer. You will be able to assign your sla--- buddies to make science.

SILK: Fight a spider mini-boss in the wilds and it will join your base. It produces silk over time.

SCIENCE: <snip>

SILK: <snip>

...I appreciate the intent to help, I really do, but I used spoiler tags because people who don't want spoilers will be reading these discussions, especially so soon after release. YMMV, but I'd certainly count those things as spoilers.

In case you're unaware how they work (entirely possible!), you put the word "spoiler" in square brackets at the start, and then the same again at the end but also with a forward slash before the word. So to get the game only came out this month and is full of secrets, you would type:
the game only came out this month and is full of secrets
.

That way, people can choose to read it or not based on if they're interested or not.

Hi if you are reading this, I am trying hard to cherry this game, do I have to beat that Black guy to cherry? I at my best beat him 2 times... How many times in one roll is needed to beat him, is him like, invincible? He's making me mad now...
Fracture94 Sep 30, 2024 @ 5:42am
I had to beat it 5 times, with the last two been in the same screen. Gotta grind some zoldnaks to get energy and stun locking him against a wall basically, his behavior is too chaotic lol.
It is insane to believe that anyone could pull a 3.5h cherry on pilot quest considering how much of a wiggly guy nozzo is.

I got the gold on this game a while ago, and yeah the whole thing sucked.
I left the game on while I multitasked websurfing instead of gaming as intended the whole time. I eventually got the cherry, because a guide here suggested it was better to just grind for a lot of z-coins, buy extra time, and fight that big guy six times for the item.

At first its better to pay for plants so you can make ingots to get friends, get em pumping ingots until you can get as many benches and friends as you can. Get yo yo upgrade. There's a cave in the ruins with Pilot's sister that has chests that give a lot of stuff. Explore to find science and beat the spider for silk, spider isn't that hard it can get stuck on things and you can combo it. Also find the two caves with the giants, exchange the letters to get the shotgun. Go near point blank with shotgun and you can stagger lock even the bosses.

ALWAYS save up meat, don't rush. Just let pilot quest build up as you play other things. I focused on upgrades for idle gains first, then one on science, two whistling, rest ingots. Once I got silk finished I just put everyone on ingots outside two science. You can exchange for science pretty fast with ingot upgrades. You can do a run to map out the entire map and hit all three dungeons without much time wasted after you got upgrades.

You can buy energy in the first dungeon pretty cheap for the ultra boss for the cherry, and even on other runs. I never found the world map to be useful for resources at all once you get base going. Just get those resources going and leave the game while doing other games and stopping by to upgrade the base. It'll go by WAAAAY faster that way. I think I got the cherry in about an hour and a half playtime, maybe two hours at most. Nozzo can be stunlocked with the gun, just clear enemies out then focus him down each time with the gun point blank.

I don’t know if it was 3.5 hours but I the cherry on my first playthrough with no prestige metaprogression. He’s probably easier to fight if you don’t have the blaster, although I did have the blaster.

Nah the blaster you can get up close and each shot hits him multiple times and stunlocks him. You can kill him WAAAY faster that way than yo yos. Gotta risk getting up close enough, but you can wreck him as fast as you can shoot then. Just need enough shards first.
MP83 Oct 29, 2024 @ 12:35am
Yeah, the blaster is actually better than either one of the upgraded yo-yos. You just need to get up close to enemies to land those double hits and knockbacks. Shoot them against a wall and keep on shooting. :nkCool:

As for Nozzlo: If you want to ensure that you will have enough energy to search and beat him 6 times in a row, first farm as many Zoldnak coins as you can, then use the coins to buy as much energy as you can from one of the green NPCs (the one that sells energy for 2 coins, in one of the dungeons). The more energy you have, the safer it will be.
