Post-game in Mini & Max: Big Shiny locations and late quests
So, initially, I was surprised to see in the game statistics of Mini & Max "Big Shinies Found: 0" after I got the cherry (fantastic game, the best in the collection so far IMO).

I was confused if it was a bug, but apparently, thanks to this thread, I discovered there are actually giant stars in dangerous caves.

I'm now using this thread to put cave locations with big shinies, and late quests people wonder about (not necessary to the main game).

#1 BIG SHINY IN THE LEFT POT AREA OUTSIDE WILLIAM'S HOUSE: there is a cave to the right of the door outside William's house, the old man living in the left plant pot near the wall. The big shiny is at the left end of the cave.

#2 #3 BIG SHINIES AT THE RIGHT OF BELDOR IN THE RIGHT POT AREA: at the right of Beldor, under the leaf at the end of a stem, is a microscopic cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

#4 #5 BIG SHINIES UNDER BELDOR, IN A CAVE AT THE SIDE OF THE RIGHT POT (FALLING ROCKS): on the side of the right pot, under the microscopic city of Beldor, is a large platform leading into the pot. In the ground are falling rocks leading to a few shinies. Under a big root changing into thinner roots is a microscopic cave with big shinies at the left and right ends of it.

#6 #7 BIG SHINIES UNDER BELDOR, IN A CAVE AT THE SIDE OF THE RIGHT POT (FALLING ROCKS): on the right of the previous location, near the end of the falling rock area, under the furthest left of the notch on the roof located at the furthest right, is a cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

#8 #9 BIG SHINIES UNDER BELDOR, IN A CAVE AT THE SIDE OF THE RIGHT POT (FALLING ROCKS): on the right of the previous location, at the very right of the falling rock area, is a cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

#10 #11 BIG SHINIES AT THE TERMITE DOOR ON THE LEFT POT: right in front of the door (two entries leading to the same cave) is a cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

EDIT: The caves are quite frequent, and I'll stop noting where they are, even though they aren't literally everywhere: the more accessible areas have much less caves, they tend to be numerous in special, enclosed areas.

Ok, I've now gone over every surface in the Red Ant pot hole, and reconfirmed my opinion that these caves are friggin' everywhere: just in that one large room, I found 12 cave entrances.

5 of which led to Big Shinies:

Upon entering, to the right of the 4 dirt clods and the termite corpse, 1 block space left of the next up ledge, there's a cave with a Big Shiny to the left.

On about the same level as the entrance, all the way right, smack next to the left most of 5 dirt clods, a cave with a Big Shiny to the left.

From the entrance, going up and left, against the wall, there's 2 clods stacked and 1 clod below right of that, move that 1 clod and stand there, a cave with a Big Shiny to the right.

In the area where the termite queen's egg is, in the center, with a short (background) overhead root, a cave with Big Shinies to the left and right.

Behind the Red Ant advisor, all the way right (without jumping), a cave with a Big Shiny on the left.

Biggest problem with hunting for Big Shinies, is that I don't much like the micro world bgm...

A Hexan on the the left side of Yarn town, which is just to the left of the 4 rug balls.

I specify because, for a long time, I'd thought the pink Hexan town (ruin), which is just to the right of the 4 rug balls was Yarn town.
Okay, thanks for the tip. Speaking of Hexan city, do we know exactly how many baby Hexans there are to rescue?

I don't know how many baby Hexans. I remember the one who collects/pays for them had one already to begin with, and while I have since turned in 6 more, they didn't say anything about it being enough already.

For the big shinies, I'm up to 14 found, mostly by just wandering the micro world. Don't forget that when you enter a cave, you can go both left and right. There's usually 1 big shiny in one direction, with a regular shiny in the other. However, I have found at least one cave with two entrances that had big shinies at both ends (left end: Big Shiny, exit, exit, right end: Big Shiny).

I took this screenshot to guide someone who was looking for the dehydrated algae soldier:

Instead of going to the ledge shown below, they went where I'm standing in the image and said they found a cave with a big Shiny... (edit: I just went there myself, and there was a big Shiny in both directions, plus a number of normal size ones.)

The long walk inside a pot with all the falling blocks (carry a blue chitin to get by normally), the micro world there has at least 2 caves, each with 2 exits, maybe even 3 caves.

One of the doors at the bottom of a pot, the left pot that leads to the termite queen's egg, the left side of the door has a cave, and the right side of the door has a cave (a 2 exit cave), I think this was the one with 2 big shinies in it.

If you want I can try to keep track of other caves I find with big shinies in them?

While I have found a few small caves atop certain npc's heads, those only had normal shinies in them.

Thanks, I started tracking the locations and writing them into my post on the first page.
I cherried the game and can also think of a couple people I never helped. I gotta shrink back down and find those people! One of them was the missing delivery man. I found the dead bug but never found them.
The dead fly transport actually pertains to 2 different requests: there's a special looking package there which the leader of Beldor wants (and is eager to use as an excuse to go to war with the left pot town: they're glad to get their package, but annoyed their excuse for a just war is gone), and to report the downed fly to the left fly port, which is, I believe, on a leaf on the right-most part of the left pot.

I definitely brought that dead fly back to the towns and ports and showed him around and there was no new dialogue.
Did you shrink onto the dead fly?

lol i knew that was it!
The caves aren't literally everywhere: the more accessible areas, like the carpet or the bookshelves, have much less caves. I remember I checked entire surfaces and didn't find a single cave. They tend to be numerous in special, enclosed areas, though.
Having thought about this a bit more, I'm really glad the game info tracker just says "Big Shinies Found: x", instead of something more like "Big Shinies Found: x of Z".

As you've proved, you don't need to find a single one to win or cherry the game, and this way I can just go, "Well, I've found 22, I think that's enough." Whereas, if the counter was x of Z, then I'd feel a lot more impetus to go find them all.
This game could have been easily unbalanced, with all its optional areas and quests and procedural elements, yet it works absolutely perfectly.

I wished I solved some quests I still don't understand (the living shiny, the broken Lampian, the bedbug, etc.) but I'm OK with it.

My only regret is the two button limitation (no run button in particular).

There is a unique item inside the robot. Once you destroy the robot, you can't get it again, but I haven't found a use for it. It's off a split path, so it seems important.
