Post-game in Mini & Max: Big Shiny locations and late quests
So, initially, I was surprised to see in the game statistics of Mini & Max "Big Shinies Found: 0" after I got the cherry (fantastic game, the best in the collection so far IMO).

I was confused if it was a bug, but apparently, thanks to this thread, I discovered there are actually giant stars in dangerous caves.

I'm now using this thread to put cave locations with big shinies, and late quests people wonder about (not necessary to the main game).

#1 BIG SHINY IN THE LEFT POT AREA OUTSIDE WILLIAM'S HOUSE: there is a cave to the right of the door outside William's house, the old man living in the left plant pot near the wall. The big shiny is at the left end of the cave.

#2 #3 BIG SHINIES AT THE RIGHT OF BELDOR IN THE RIGHT POT AREA: at the right of Beldor, under the leaf at the end of a stem, is a microscopic cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

#4 #5 BIG SHINIES UNDER BELDOR, IN A CAVE AT THE SIDE OF THE RIGHT POT (FALLING ROCKS): on the side of the right pot, under the microscopic city of Beldor, is a large platform leading into the pot. In the ground are falling rocks leading to a few shinies. Under a big root changing into thinner roots is a microscopic cave with big shinies at the left and right ends of it.

#6 #7 BIG SHINIES UNDER BELDOR, IN A CAVE AT THE SIDE OF THE RIGHT POT (FALLING ROCKS): on the right of the previous location, near the end of the falling rock area, under the furthest left of the notch on the roof located at the furthest right, is a cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

#8 #9 BIG SHINIES UNDER BELDOR, IN A CAVE AT THE SIDE OF THE RIGHT POT (FALLING ROCKS): on the right of the previous location, at the very right of the falling rock area, is a cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

#10 #11 BIG SHINIES AT THE TERMITE DOOR ON THE LEFT POT: right in front of the door (two entries leading to the same cave) is a cave with big shinies at both ends of it.

EDIT: The caves are quite frequent, and I'll stop noting where they are, even though they aren't literally everywhere: the more accessible areas have much less caves, they tend to be numerous in special, enclosed areas.

Ok, I've now gone over every surface in the Red Ant pot hole, and reconfirmed my opinion that these caves are friggin' everywhere: just in that one large room, I found 12 cave entrances.

5 of which led to Big Shinies:

Upon entering, to the right of the 4 dirt clods and the termite corpse, 1 block space left of the next up ledge, there's a cave with a Big Shiny to the left.

On about the same level as the entrance, all the way right, smack next to the left most of 5 dirt clods, a cave with a Big Shiny to the left.

From the entrance, going up and left, against the wall, there's 2 clods stacked and 1 clod below right of that, move that 1 clod and stand there, a cave with a Big Shiny to the right.

In the area where the termite queen's egg is, in the center, with a short (background) overhead root, a cave with Big Shinies to the left and right.

Behind the Red Ant advisor, all the way right (without jumping), a cave with a Big Shiny on the left.

Biggest problem with hunting for Big Shinies, is that I don't much like the micro world bgm...

Its possible. I cherried the game and only found one. Its a shiny that is twice as big as your character
Oh, OK, great, I was worried there was a bug, thanks.

Amazing that there is still so much stuff to do in this game even after getting the cherry (I even have all the powerups and didn't find a single big shiny).

Interesting. Were are These dangerous caves?
I have the cherry too and am at 0 big shines.

Is it in the super mini world? I explored a few of the caves there, but never found anything usefull

I stumbled on them sometimes, but always lost before getting to their end. They're in the micro world, and the creatures in it are palette swaps of the usual microbes and are much more dangerous.

My first big shiny location:

The spot is just to the right of the door outside William's house, the old man living in the left plant pot near the wall. I went to the left in the cave, and there was a big shiny at the end.

I have all the items now so it's easier using Max as boomerang projectile.

I guess it's post-game content we are supposed to explore through gamer exchange. One more element that shows Mini & Max, unlike many games in the collection, is extremely modern in design (and would be more comfortable by using more than two buttons, all the double tapping and combinations are a bit clunky).

I'm editing the thread to be used as post game content.

While I'm at it, quests I can't figure out:

- A lamp guy with a broken skull that fell from the high lamp, I tried to cure him with a bowl but it didn't work.

- On the high lamp, a bedbug and a blood cell I'm not sure what to do with.

- Lamp guys lost in the mold: can we actually save them?

- I remember a broken Mol Dok statue somewhere (but didn't write the location down), solved Mol Dok quest without it (?), not sure if it's useful.

- What to do with the living shiny?

- What to do with the rat beverage?

Rat beverage goes to the sherriff rat inside the train.

If you go to the broken moldak statue inside the clock after returning the stone book, their god will give you 50 or so shinies.
Where is the armour smith again? I found him but I forgot where because my irl dog was distracting (this one doesn't help me find power ups, he keeps begging for pets)

The armour smith is at Beldor, the microscopic city on the right plant pot above the crack.

What you have to use is blue chitin, you can find an endless supply on the blue rhinoceros beetle (shrink on his back), which is at the far right of the pot.
Still stuck on:

- The live shiny you can grab at the far left of the floor at bug level. Tried to bring it to the Lampian who throws shinies out of the shelf, tried to show it to Lampians who think shinies aren't important, showed it to the exiled Lampian who thinks shinies matter: nothing.

- The bed bug on the lamp on the ceiling and the blood cell next to it. Tried to take fleas on the cat king and put it on the bed bug, nothing. My guess is you have to capture somehow the blood cell and put it on the bed bug for it to "get up", but how?

- The Lampian broken at the vertical of the fall from the lamp ceiling. Tried to fix it by bringing it a glass bowl bought from the bunnies, nothing.

- The Lampians talk about an orange microbe that is very dangerous, and we should not move when we see it. I haven't met it yet.

- Couldn't find the location of another big cave. I should have taken more notes when I played.

I have seen the orange microbe, it's maybe a screen or two away from their city. Just walk out and keep going. It's just like the slow green, and the faster pink ones (caves or under the off lamp), but it's orange, super fast, and very strong.

I've encountered it 5? times. Once, I tried staying still, and it continued its motion (through me) and did me in. Twice I was able to just barely outrun it, as I was fairly near a screen edge when I saw it / it saw me. Once I was too far into the area to successfully outrun it. Again later I tried staying still, and this time it swerved away (soon enough) and let me be.

I saw it at least once before turning off the lamp. I've got the roach armor now, so I don't know if it will still be instant death if it touches me.
Does it seem to serve any point?
I mostly just thought of it as a special hazard.

Given how other things in this game are, I wouldn't be surprised if you'll get a reward (I would say "surely shinies, of course", but these are the lampians, so...) assuming you can kill it, not that I've tried to do that.
One of the lampians wants to spread their teachings and gives you a scroll. Does anyone know who to give the scroll to?
Yes: give the scroll to a member of another race, a carpet Hexan I think, who wants to know about other cultures.
