- In the Arena one, you die in 1 hit. No extra lifes, no continues.... WHY??? Even freaking Binding of Isaac gives you like... 6 hits before you die at the start of the game
So in OverBold, round 1 teaches you about movement and TTK. You move slow and TTK is quick. However, TTK is also very high enemies with mines(one mine instakills), which you have a few and always a chance to buy at least one set without a hike. This is doubly important because there is an upgrade that lures enemies to the mines. Making it easier to kill off more problematically high hp enemies.
Enemy movement is also predictable. Pumpkins while move fast, can only move in eight directions. You can always quick turn to kill the cat-erpillars, flowers make a predictable sound.
With these in mind, its not all that difficult to cherry in about eight minutes. Focus on mines, hp boosts, and reasonable gambling goals.
- In the contra clone, you have to STAND STILL while you shoot! It's called RUN AND GUN! Stand still and gun is awful!!!
If you are referring to CyberOwls, this shoot and not move is a mechanic in other games, notably Wild Guns. That game did benefit from a quick dodge and melee mechanic, but is still quite difficult. Honestly though, that is about killing tactically, and not being greedy. Honestly, there's much harder games out there that use this type of shooting.
- The vertical shooter seems to be stuck on fast forward mode, and every enemy drops a bullet 5 pixels below the upgrade they drop, so you can't collect them.
Star Waspir is something I am not all that great with, but generally to get good at shumps is to start by focusing on getting to each area as hitless as you can, then build up your score for extra lives.
- The RPG makes you COMPLETELY MISS, unless you hit an insanely tiny time window.
Grimstone's hit mechanic is quite reasonable and there are weapons that have a larger window to hit. Does your controller have latency issues?
- The golf one only gives you 20 strokes, in which i only twice managed to reach a cave, leave alone solve the cave, which looks like it would take 20 strokes alone, but when you get there you only have 1 or 2 swings left.
Another game I haven't focused too much on(there's 50 of them, haven't got all the time to play each), but there are quite a few options to find birdies, eagles, and parbots that make pathing much easier. And the artifacts you get early can really help make shots more effective.
- The koala puzzle game goes from "Solved in 10 seconds" in one level, to "I have zero clue how to solve the black cubes after an hour of trial and error" in the next level.
It's a Sukoban like. Not much to say because a lot of those kind of games work on experience.
It takes time to get good at them, you need to not give up and pay attention to what the game gives you and what's happening around you.
- Other people seem to agree that the arena sucks because of instant deaths that you can't avoid and insane difficulty raises you have to do, and THEN hope for good RNG in the shop.
- Didn't know there was another Contra like in Owls, i mean the guy with the Scepter, Sahasraslasa or whatever.
- No, i played rythm heaven with that controller, and you can't tell me that THAT isn't unreasonable! This sucks. It should be normal dmg when you miss and crit when you hit the bar or something like that. It's an RPG! I don't wanna look at my 20th fight against tumbleweed! I just want some money! My guys are strong enough! Just let me quickly skip through the damn fight!
- Also no, i played so many puzzle games, and i must be completely missing something. You can only DO THREE THINGS! What else could you do??? I thought the 3rd thing WAS the solution, but no, you can't push two blocks together like that, because the moment the blocks touch each other, THAT counts as "stop moving", and when you "stop moving", the block value goes down by 1. It should be a 2, hitting a 1, turning into a 3, and then you can move on. But the 2 just turns into a 1 instead of combining...
I bet the solution is something dumb like "you had to hold down the a button while doing this!"...
Yeah but realistically... why can't we move? It's an artificial limitation that makes it objectively worse. If you WANTED, you COULD stop, even if you didn't have to. You can do that in every game! You can play Elden Ring and just stand still everytime you do something. Why don't you do that? Because it's artificial and objectively worse...
If you forced yourself to do something you didn't enjoy, that's on you.
The first upgrade at the top left is a life upgrade: After boosting it once you won't die in 1 hit. The medikit right after spawns regularly and can boost your HP past your starting health.
I got the cherry on that one in less than 10 runs, it is very doable.
Prioritize medikit, faster attacks, double shot and drop bombs on the plants. Raise price first THEN pick an upgrade to see if you'll need shields for projectiles / lava / explosions depending on monsters picked.
Seems like his life energy is to hate on a game, that isn't made for him.
You played mini &max? Night manor? Valbrace? Rail heist?
Those are absolutely fun and I love other games too. Magic garden is a game I play ever now and then, just to get this tiny bit closer to maybe get the gold.
Put your hater energy somewhere else. You are wasting your time with beeing mad and angry at a game, not made for you.
Name one. One game where you get a game over when you touch the first enemy in the game, after 0.1 seconds of play time. Literally never saw that in 40 years.
I once got 2 health upgrades in the first 2 rounds. Pumpkin. Game Over. Still 1 hit deaths.
