Star Waspir
Almost feels primitive for how late in the lineup it is. Almost disappointing. Anyways, right pilot seems to be the best with his giant kill laser that shreds, and him having the best drones helps too. General advice as I've seen it so far:
Drones can take damage and be destroyed.
Energy powerups eventually go away. I can't tell if they stack, don't think so.
Getting GEE gives a ufo buddy who shoots like twice and goes away.
EGG seems to double your score multiplier. Haven't checked how that works.

I'm bad at these types of games so clearing wave 1 is about the best I'm gonna do for now :^)

So far I prefer Caramel Caramel over Star Waspir.

I feel this way about Rakshasa, that is an early 80s arcade game all the way.

The years seem right to me, maybe even too early. Star Waspir was released in the same year Truxton was released in Japan. Rakshasa was released in the same year as Ghouls 'n Ghosts. Caramel Caramel is a year after Gradius but a year before R-Type (this one especially might be a bit too early, the camera idea feels more Irem than Konami).

Yeah, I was also kinda disappointed in Star Waspir. Not because it was an arcade shmup but because it wasn't enough of one. I wanted a game like Star Soldier or Dragon Spirit The New Legend. With more than one boss.

My immediate first impression was that the background made me dizzy :(

I was surprised to find that holding down the fire button and hitting it repeatably gives you different fire modes...it helps but I still can't beat wave one either....:cheffie:

One of the few games that feels impossible to win

Maybe I missed something

I thought the same at first. It's incredibly hard but doable. My main problem was on the 3rd wave I was using tap to shoot too much, which ended up diluting the damage across multiple enemies. When I just held to shoot most of the time it was still very hard but became possible. It was also easier to precisely dodge incoming bullets when I was moving slower from holding to fire.
