In normal difficulty, wandoos Meh requires 1,000 times as much energy and magic to level at the same speed, but it gives you 20 times as much per energy level and 50 times as much per magic level, on top of not having a diminishing returns formula.
Wandoos XL again requires 1,000 times as much and has an even stronger formula (that gives more returns per level as levels go up this time).
In practice you will probably be near the beast when your spare energy and magic from all of the other features become high enough to go for Meh and XL, since energy and magic tend to have more impact on your progression in other features.
For challenges you want to use wandoos a lot but usually you also want quick rebirths, so higher versions require incredibly high energy and magic stats.
With time it takes to fill energy dump = x, magic dump = y, time = z (in minutes):
Total Energy Dump Levels = z * 60 / x
Total Magic Dump Levels = z * 60 / y
Both formulae need to be truncated not rounded.
Check those values for every wandoo's versions you have and use the formula provided in game to know how much you'd get from each version in a given amount of time.
For example I can cap wandoos 98.
Per hour that's 60 * 60 / 0.02 = 180,000 levels
The bonus is: ((1 + 0.01 * 180,000)) * (1 + ( 0.04 * 180,000)))^0.8 = 490,145.72
For Wandoos MEH the values are 0.70 & 4.50.
That's :
60 * 60 / 0.7 = 5142 energy level
60 * 60 / 4.5 = 800
Final bonus would be:
(1 + 5142 / 5 ) * (1 + (800 * 2)) = 1,647,040
There are some aspects to watch for:
1) you can only switch if your previous Wandoos E/M levels are both capped (meaning you only use like 1% of your energy/magic to get 50levels/s). No reason to even think of switching before that.
2) even if they are capped and you could get more from other Wandoos, it's still better to stick with old one most of time. It only consumes 1/1000 of energy/magic and you can keep them running for no cost the whole rebirth while using pretty much all your energy/magic elsewhere.
3) you might want to switch at the moment you plan to run several hour long run and for some reason you will need those 2-3 bosses more (the overcap rule still applies). But so far I haven't found the need for that.
