Update or New game?

4 months without any updates. With flash down everywhere, this place is the only guaranteed way of playing any flash-based games. On that note, I just gotta ask if 4g even feels committed to supporting thsi game cuz its quite literally #1 idle game on steam, as it was on kongregate. Plz dont drop the support. Maybe he is focusing on that new game right now so no updates? Smbd plz do inform me

This is using unity, not flash so on that front nothing to worry about.

Last time he talked about his plans he was focuing on the new game but wanted to properly finish NGU as well afterward so the game shouldn't be abandonned, just put to the side for a time.

The game uses unity not flash, and there is a new game in the works called NGU industries. (there is a store page for it.

Well unity or not, kong is basically dead as most of its content was flash, they disbanded live chats (which were the only reason I was on kong in the first place) and they shutdown forums as well. There is basically no reason whatsoever to use NGU in a browser as the steam-based one seems to be more stable anyway, and doesn't need a separate tab/window to be played at 100% efficiency time-wise

no? they disbanded game-specific live chats/game room a long time ago already, I double checked. You can maybe have a global chat room (might go down anyways since lack of people) but not ngu chat rooms

I literally was checking when I wrote that. I logged into Kong, went to NGU Idle, and it put me in NGU room #4.

ETA: I also checked for other NGU chat rooms, all of the first 5 had nearly 200 people in them.

I don't know about that. What I do know is that when they made the announcement about shutting down chat rooms, they followed it up a few days later saying specifically that NGU chat would not be shut down. (and some other popular games)

But, having said that, if you really want active chat for this game (and also official news and announcements) then you should join the NGU Idle Discord server. There's a link in the game.

before committing myself to downloading and using a program and all that, does it get many people? As many as there sitting on Kong? No?

Cuz from what it seems, steam people sit in discussions less and less, the first page of threads had last reply to the last thread on the page dating back a whole week ago

Strange, cuz just in december when I was actively playing, there were numerous threads and replies done every day. I wonder what happened, considered the game still sits at roughly 5k-7k people at any given time

Discord is active, very active. Also for the game chatroom themselves, there are a number of chat rooms, depending on what point in the game you are at. So well worth joining.

Discord works just fine in a web browser, too, no need for a separate program if you don't want to. (I prefer to just use it in the browser myself, and can confirm the NGU discord is very much alive.)

the thing is, I dont want ngu in a browser because it will only run at 100% speed if you create a separate window for it and I dont want to be switching between different windows when I'm browsing

He is talking about discord in the browser, not the game.

discord is just chat/voice platform, not gaming one. You won't be playing NGU on discord. It's just chat. And yeah, it works pretty well in browser as long as you don't want serious game voice chat (which most MMO guilds are using now more then TeamSpeak)

But almost all game these day use discord for online chatting and/or community management. If one wants to reach developer of indie game directly it's mostly done through discord.
