there is no limit, except what you can cast with your mayo and how many cards your deck can hold at one time
So basically the only downside to casting a "good" card is that you may not have the mayo to cast a better card later.
It's pretty easy to spot if something is permanent or not usually, look at how easy it is to raise and how much it gives you.
Permanent stuff usually give you fairly little at a time and most of the time a timer of sort is applied to it in order to prevent you from getting tons in one go (iron pill is a good example of that compared to the three spells that reset an have no timers).
You can cast as many card as you want as long as you have the cards and enough mayo for it.
When I first got it, I think the only cards I cast were Adventure since pushing adventure zones was the main progression point, maybe a couple of Hacks/Wishes/QP/PP just to get the bonus on the table and ultimately because those were also sources of adventure stats. Maybe if you feel you need the drop/daycare a couple of those wouldn't be bad.
