NGU levels to aim for when moving towards evil?
I've finished all my challenges except 24 hour and no TM which are at 6 and 5 completions respectively. I'm able to idle Normal Beast without any problems (sitting at about 50Bill Power). I'm struggling to push past this point right now. Not that there aren't things to do, but I dont know what NGU's I should be investing in and for how long. Are there any suggested levels for NGU's as to what you should be aiming for. In general what are the best NGU's to be investing in? Suggested Energy magic caps/power? I will note I do have the beast gear set maxed and am currently farming the accessories you get from Normal Mode.

this is quite precise frame to target for:

https://ngu-idle.fandom.com/wiki/Evil_difficulty#Recommended_stats

in a nutshell:

  • ~60k/1.5B energy, ~20k/500M magic
  • ~50M - 100M total XP
  • NGU cap first 6 energy ones and 3 normal ones
  • 10T power / 6T toughness

Your cap/pow/bar ratio will generally hold steady where its at. You might migrate to a 2:1 E/M ratio, at least until you can BB the Ygg and XP NGUs. You'll then move back to a 3:1 ratio as you get ready for Evil.

you'll continue to get more power and toughness from the things you've been doing, as well as adding in Fruit of Adventure (as you continue maxxing it to level 24). During all this time, your NGU Yggdrasil, Exp, and Adventure should continue growing so that basically every day when you eat and harvest, your numbers are growing more and more.

when you begin adding in Bank Perks for Advanced Training and Beards, those will also help you to continue growing and having higher Adventure Stats faster. For example, I now start Advanced Training with 100,000 levels already done. Compare that to 0 like it used to be, you can see the benefit!

however, you can get to Hard Beast without them, so if you want to use your perk points or quest points for something else, it should still be OK also.

I was going to say I'm not far behind at Beast V1, but stat wise I most definitely am very far behind as well as challenges. (Hadn't done most of them.)

Curious, how do you cap those NGUs? Does there come a point when the six in energy stop slowing down? (The fastest one for me is like 0.7 seconds while the slowest of the six is at 2.2)

Well, no, but, yes. It's all relative.
Think of it this way. For the first level of any NGU, if you have x amount of cap and y amount of power, it will take z time to finish. With the same x cap and y power, the second level takes twice as long, or 2z time. Then, going from level 2 to level 3 requires 3z time. Going from level 2 to 3 takes three times as long as going from 0 to 1, but only 50% longer than going from 1 to 2. So, each successive level takes one more z of time to complete, with any given x and y.
(from the wiki: Cost for level N -> N+1 = N+1 times cost for level 0 -> 1)

Now, when you have a lot of levels in any given NGU, you can see how the increase in time required becomes imperceptible. Say you have 100m in an NGU, and you're leveling at full speed, that is, 50 per second. After 24 hours spent leveling, the total level has increased by less than 5% (4.32m), which means the time to reach the next level will also have increased by less than 5%.

They never stop slowing down, but the slow down becomes meaningless. Your stat growth from exp purchases and gear upgrades will exceed the growth rate for time required. Beard Cage and NGU Diggers also help. You will hit the speed cap a long, long time before you reach 100m.

since capped speed is 50levels/s, the max you can ever reach is ~4.5m levels/day. At around 15-25mil you will start reaching cap and you will only need 20-30% reserve to keep it all day long. That's also the increase you are gaining every day from spending XP (power*cap). So it will be on balance and it will get exponentially easier from that point on (for the first NGUs).
