autosave
does the game autosave when i close the game, or will it load from my last autosave before i closed the game?

i'm worried that i might close the game after beating titans but before it autosaves, so i lose the drops. do i need to wait for an autosave or manually save before i close the game?

The game auto-saves every 30 seconds but you should get used to doing a manual save before closing the game, every single time.
This is because auto-saves are just erasing the previous every time so if anything goes wrong (ranging from from making a bad decision that sets you at least a week back to having a corrupted auto-save) you won't have a backup to fall back to if you don't frequently do manual saves.
Before closing is the best moment because it also ensures that the latest save does account for anything you have done right before closing the game.

and the answer is the game doesn't save on exit. The last auto-save will be automatically used. You better wait at least 30s after last "change" you want to keep.

(Doing manual save, as good advise as it is, won't auto-load. You would be required to manually load after autoload. Which also mean manual saves are not automatically steam-clouded. Some alternative clouding service would be required to be used to sync manual saves.)

You can skip autoload and just load your file.

I have been playing NGU using 2 different computers. While I can say that about 5-10 seconds after an autosave, I have been able to close up on one computer, and go to the other computer and load from cloud (instead of local save), most of the time this works. But very infrequently, I get an old cloud save. Not sure why that happens. (I know it's old because when I am changing from computer to computer, I change the Input cap number on the "Basic Training" menu so I will know that I'm loading up the game I just saved, as well as to verify that the "time passed" should be just a few seconds, or less than 1 minute)

So I make sure to do manual save at the computer I'm at, then let the game do auto-save in the next few seconds, then wait a few more seconds, before closing the game with the X-button in upper right corner (which reminds me, this game has no actual "click this button or menu to exit the game")

If things work, then I continue on from the cloud game at the other computer. If things didn't work, then I go back to the first computer, load from file, then do the process again to let it save back to cloud properly and then go try again at the other computer.

The "old save" thing might be because your first computer was not able to upload the save to steam's cloud before you went to the second computer to launch the game again.
The game stays with a blue text in your library while it is trying to upload the save (and that upload can fail without telling you too) so if you are trying to fetch the save on your second computer during that time it is likely that you would download the old save instead.
