For the time machine what does the target mean?
In the beginning is there a limit for how high of a number I can set that? Also why can't I put energy into the gold multiplier, only the machine speed?

The only reason to put a number in the target is if you specifically want to stop at a certain point, which generally isn't the case. You can go as high as you want, although each level takes longer than the one before it. The gold multiplier is leveled up using a different resource that you'll unlock soon.

gold multiplier part takes magic points, which you'll get later.

for short runs, you might not put a target.

but for long runs, you might put one because at a certain point, you don't necessarily want a 0.01% increase but you would rather want to use that energy and magic for some other features.

of course, if you have excess energy and magic waiting to be used, then Time Machine would be a good place to use it.

I never found a good reason to use the target (outside of 100 levels challenge). I just run time machine until adv training opens.
