Digger drop chance weirdness...
ok, my digger drop chance is 337%
without digger I have
981116% drop modifier
drop chance in chocolate is
0.39 normal
1.18 boss and boost

with digger I have
3.307 million %
but chocolate drop is
0.57 normal
1.77 boss and boost

rough math should put normal drop at
1.17
and boos drop at
3.54

am I hitting some kind of major softcap?

It's not a soft cap but a change in formula that starts exactly at chocolate zone.

Before chocolate zone it is base drop chance multiplied by total drop chance modifier.

From chocolate zone onward it's base drop chance multiplied by the total drop chance modifier to the power 1/3 (cubed root).

So basically your 337% from your digger gives you:
3.37^(1/3) = 1.499
Which means an increase of about 50% on the final drop chance.
0.39 * 1.5 = 0.585
1.18 * 1.5 = 1.77

The differences between the numbers from the math and the numbers you see are because the numbers are rounded, so 0.39 was probably 0.38 followed by some numbers and rounded to 0.39 for the display.

This formula is what is used for drop chance on every zone starting from chocolate world and continuing in evil and sadistic difficulties.

ok... so by my math, I need to get the total drop chance boost up to
1,100,000,000% to get the drop chance to max.
I see no real feasible way to do that number to something reasonable.
I assume that in evil, evil ngu is multiplicative everything else, and sadistic is too, and at some point macguffins ramp the hell up along with yggdrasil slow build ups from luck... it wont be horrific for long but it being the first area that has that modifier and it being outside of the ability to really pump it, I have to ask

is it worth trying to pump up drop chance any further and instead just go into chocolate world and slog though it because the modifiers on the gear are that good, not to mention the 3 accessories
I'm going to finish off the pp accessory today and after that, much of the pp points are incremental upgrades of dubious necessity, nice to have sure, but have right now... not so much. probably the best thing out of itopod is the steady boosts to pump up the infinity cube with.

Your drop chance is good enough to start grinding it, and there's no hope of maxing out the drop rate first. It still depends on how quickly you can idle the enemies there, though. If it's taking several hits to kill them, you might want to wait a bit longer.

Usually when I get to idle stats for a zone I am aroud 5-10% drop chance.
Admitedly newer players reaching the same point faster means that all of your bonuses are going to be a bit lower (including access to looty and pendant).

Something very important to remember is that your adventure stats matter a lot more than your drop chance in most cases.
The reason being that each attack adds 0.8 second to the time to kill an enemy so having a higher power means you will be defeating them faster, and with more kills per hour (or minute, or whatever scale you like to use) you get more roll for drops, and even if the drop chance is the same it means a lot more drops.

Of course boosting drop chance as much as possible with accessories and digger has an impact but you don't want to neglect your adventure stats while boosting drop chance.
