Question about the Basic Challenge

Is the idea to complete the challenge without any Rebirths, or are rebirths allowed during the challenge.
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but the wording of "make your way back up" somewhat implies getting to that boss without interruption (rebirth).

Answering my own question here as looking at what boss you need to unlock Automations, it would probably take a couple lifetimes to complete that challenge without them.

You can rebirth as many times as you want during a challenge except the no rebirth challenge (and the laser sword challenge since that challenge is about making an augmentation to a certain level without even bothering about taking your number away).

What challenges do is take your rebirth's NUMBER away (it resets to 1 and you are not getting your old one by cancelling or finishing the challenge) and ask you to climb back to a certain boss target, most (but not the basic challenge) with special restrictions.

You might want to wait until you are at or near the mega land adventure zone before really going to the basic challenge, it can be done earlier but it takes time that is usually better spent farming an adventure zone.

Got it! Your answer makes perfect sense. The challenge is reset your Number to 1, keep everything else.

In fact, as it isn't obvious from the wording, all challenges except one (that explicitly states so) will reset your NUMBER to 1. So take that into account before starting challenges, as you don't get your previous NUMBER back at any challenge.

Before starting a challenge it's a good idea to just burn your number down since it'll get reset anyway. Rebirth, start training, nuke bosses for exp, and then when 3 minutes is up, do it again. You're going to be resetting it to 1 anyway, might as well cash it in for a ton of exp you wouldn't get otherwise!
