It's the only challenge that hold up to its name, even with very high stats you still need to do things properly or you don't advance all that much.

The main things are to rebirth quickly, queezing as much as you can in the first few minutes and to always be ready to rebirth (having already nuked and defeated as many bosses as you can) when a bit troll happens.

If you wait until you are after walderp or even when you are at the beast, your stats will be enough to only need a few rebirths of 3 minutes in order to reach the target boss even for the last clears.
It still requires a lot more attention than any other challenge but if the whole trolling thing is too much for you that's the way to make it impact you as little as possible.

I did first Troll challenge around Megaland. It took ~8 hours to complete it and it was hard and annoying because I had to do 30m-1h long rebirths (short won't give me any multipliers because most of my extra functions, like beards, fruits, ngu, EM cap/power/bars were not advanced enough at that time, so it was harmless if they become disabled). Recently I finally defeated Walderp and collected some items from him so tried Troll challenge again (wanted to unlock another accessory slot), it only took 1h07m for the second clear with 7m or 10m rebirths (right after you get another x4 Number multiplier and I was trying to do it right after the great troll activation, sometimes waiting till 10m, sometimes till 7m). Third clear took me 2h25m. I stopped at 3 clears for now.

When I didn't have good beards, wandoos or ngu it wouldn't matter if I reset before or after great troll. On the last two runs it was important to reset right after the great troll as disabling one of those functions early ruined whole remaining run and made me reset earlier just to keep my number without getting much progress.

So it does become much easier later. And you will love kitty because of it. When you expect reset of one of your functions or losing blood and blood multiplier you feel so happy when troll gives you a kitty.

Do first as soon as it is doable. Higher levels keep for later. I finished all challenges few weeks before going EVIL and last troll challenge took me like 40 mins.

7 times? I wish. It's 7 times for each difficulty. By the way any sane person should do challenges with AHK. Some challenges need to be done 240 times.

There are only 97 total challenge runs in normal and the same amount in evil difficulty. With max 20 runs of some challenges. I doubt there is a challenge with 200 runs in sadistic difficulty which is required for a total of 240 times. Your info seems outdated.

240 was 3 times (from 3 difficulties) 80 (the amount required for the 24h challenge before the change), so it is outdated.

On top of that, auto hotkey is not exactly superb for challenges since each challenge has its own way to run and early rebirths are more limited in what they can use depending on your various stats (the timing of unlocking the time machine, blood magic and each upgrades or the amount of gold at disposal can vary quite a lot).

It was 80 before but in 1.003 all challenges were reworked so you don't need to run them a lot of times. Most require 5-10 runs now instead of previous 20-80 and Laser Sword challenge is at 20 but does not need a number reset so can be done as a normal run. Troll challenge is at 7 runs and it seems fine as is. Just don't run it too early and you will be fine.

But when should you run your first Troll Challenge and what should your E/M be at minimum (and have some sanity remaining) and how long should we expect it to take?

You might want to wait until you get walderp's set fully levelled and boosted to run the troll challenge's first 3-4 clears but you can do the first one a bit earlier (around UUG).

It might sound like it's very late but that's because you really want high energy and magic stats in order to be able to brute-force your way through the challenge, and before UUG you usually don't want to invest too much in bars compared to cap.

Since UUG unlocks beards and that feature uses bars as its primary stat it tends to be at that point that bars become more important, resulting in a big increase in bars in the ratio you use.
Since the troll challenge forces you to do quick rebirths and even resets your energy or magic to 0 quite often mid-rebirth as well, having a lot more bars makes a big difference.

As for how long it takes, the goal is to finish it as quickly as possible, so you tend to want them to take about 30 minutes at most (which means a less than 10 rebirths of 3 minutes if possible).

I did first 3 trolls just after few Walderp kills, immediatelly after I've got Candy Cane (for huge bars bonus). 3 mins rebirths were not an option by then. But rebirthing just after big trolls did the thing. It was easy by then.

I waited till I got a full set of badly drawn gear with maxed stats. I wanted as many bars as I could get so I had my Perks done too.

I did the first 3 and decided to wait to do the others since my goal was the 24 hour fruits.

I would rebirth after the Big troll hit. I think I saw the Cat once, during all 3. Mostly my energy or Augments would get reset. First one went by easy, but it ramps up fast for each challenge. I completed the 3rd one in 32 min, so 3 rebirths. I'm sure I could have done more of them but I didn't want to spend hours on them which I'm sure it would get too.

I figure I'll do some more challenges after I get my boring ass earth set. Since I like doing a few challenges after each set.
