ArcheAge: Unchained

ArcheAge: Unchained

I'm enjoying the game but the armour system in Archeage is the worst I've seen in an MMO..
I'm really enjoying the game so far but are the devs serious ?

If you delete your gear or throw away your upgrade stones you are literally screwed later down the track.

If the game made it obvious then sure, the system still sucks but at least you're accountable. The game literally gives you gear which gives the impression that you naturally get given gear throughout the game as you progress. By then however a lot of people have thrown out their old armour which was upgraded or thrown away the stones and have literally screwed their entire character.

Who thought this system was even remotely good ?

Sarcasm aside lol Well you won't have that problem if you don't delete your gear will you ? Just don't delete your gear lol The game does not have to be changed because you don't have to delete your gear. Why would you delete it ? Also decide if you want to keep it in the future before you delete it. I think the game is cured now :D YW

Why would I delete it ? Because in every other MMO in existence you just throw away old gear. There is not another MMO in existence that destroys your games progress because you can't actually obtain gear in game from loot.

TLDR ? Throw your gear out and your character will become physically stuck and useless. Every other MMO at least allows you to work back up to obtaining gear.

Even if you threw gear out by accident, guess what ? your character is now useless and you need to create a new one.

There is not another MMO in existence that completely destroys your character in this way.

You can buy a new Set in the starting area.

You still get Gear Drops.

I see this as a small problem because it can be prevented but what does a non chalant girl from Sweden know ? lol :D Relax, and as long as you decide to keep your gear as long as you need it, than there should be no worries. Be careful, and watch your gear carefully before pressing that delete button. Hold on to that gear, and don't get rid of it because you will be useless. Remember that.

The game has been cured ! Yw ! :D

So your saying you rather it be like the old school one and be all about regrades and obsidian grinding...
Please just accept the new system. It is a lot easier and is practically gave to you

New school or old school I don't care. There isn't a single successful MMO in existence that makes your character literally useless if you have no gear.

You physically can not progress any further if you accidently drop your upgrade stones or gear pieces.

To be fair, the game used to be like that - get new equipment from mobs and dungeons as you progress and you'd use that to get stronger as you went on or crafted your equipment.

The game doesn't exactly say "Yo, we made a new streamline equipment set that you're gonna keep for life because it's easier for you to catch up to the rest of the game if you join four years from now, so don't destroy or get rid of this."

Thankfully all but your instrument and bow can be obtained from a weapon merchant, but it's the base version. For replacing those you'll unfortunately need to rely on mob drops until you can create a hiram bow / hiram instrument later on in the 50s.

I'm glad someone understands !

Is it possible to kill level 50 mobs with base version armour sets though ?

Oh good lord I wouldn't advise that at all if you can't upgrade the explorer equipment.

While more expensive there is cloaked equipment in the merchants too. Those cost a bit of gold but the level req for that should be in the 40s. Otherwise a party or your guild if you're in one could help you get started with mat farming for rebuilding your hiram stuff once you're in the 50s.

Yeah this is the issue I'm seeing. If someone were to drop all of their gear how would go you about actually being able to play the game ?

If you were to buy cloaked armour and weapons, could you then essentially grind for Hiram gear ? Or would level 40 stuff be even too low ?

I just thought there would be a system that stops you hard locking your characters..

If it's done early on, it's less of an issue since you can still get most of your equipment enhanced with the infusions provided by the story. Outside of this, you're looking at farming for it in the game world at 50+, or working on your equipment (?) ArchePass for hiram infusions (but those have a cost per mission to reach the milestones in them and you gotta meet the level requirement (likely 30+).

That's possibly why they still have the regular equipment. While not as strong DPS-wise and following the older upgrade path, you're going find that they provide additional points to your secondary stats - strength, agility, intelligence, and so on which could actually be more beneficial. Like archer-based skills rely on the agility stat for increased accuracy and damage, among other things.

The explorer equipment doesn't provide these stats until later on.

Damn that's stupid as heck, gotta say. Thought you said you didn't want to use sarcasm, but you then just repeated the same drivel you already said.
