Liberal Undertones?

Had a friend of mine who played this said this game was full of liberal undertones, portraying right wingers as severely retarded or incompetent while portraying left wingers are the cool minded people. I don't care much for politics but I do hate when games unceremoniously shoe-horn in political messages. I know this whole game is about news and politics, so I guess what I'm really asking is does this game really lay into right wingers? Or does it make fun of both sides like another friend of mine said?

You went in for an own there and really just showed your own ignorance. This is like an elementary school level of understanding politics and only really applies in the american political landscape, where "left" means "left of the nazi party"

Liberals love the free market, which pretty much every actual left wing political movement rejects to some extent or the other.

The republican party is who I was referring to. Definitely not everyone.

Well you'd just shown that you don't understand liberalism, so it makes sense to me that you don't understand this either.

It's actually a parody of both. Yes, the right wing is money-hungry capitalistic... but take the side of the left wing and you get a collection of over-idealistic hippies. Both sides are crazy, both sides do stupid things, and there's no black and white, as taking either extremist path can lead to doom and despair while doing the seemingly righteous thing can backfire horribly.

The developers seem to be left-leaning, but what they want is for you to laugh at both sides, not take sides.

And ironically considering what's going on in the real world right now, it's harder than ever to actually parody something.
