Also the shop is no longer in the game as the devs dident felt like it fit the game world which is why they removed it. It used to contain cosmetics (Whitch might come back in some form) and upgrades to equipment.
Flux has nailed it pretty much on the head above in terms of getting the best score possible. Green shots for no longer than 10 seconds; Orange shots for no longer than 3 seconds; no Red shots; Censor only when the red waveform crosses the red line (and don't miss any); additionally, don't change screens in quick succession (ie: wait at least two seconds before changing screen again once you've selected a new one).
Additionally, things like missing interference, or not clearing Snugglehugs off the tower in the Lockdown level will cause a penalty.
If you follow those you'll be getting an A+ in no time :) at the top of the screen there is an audience bar, with green and red arrows to the right of it. If the green arrow is full, you're on a positive streak! If it's not, you've done something to negatively impact your score, even if briefly. So I'd keep an eye on this as well to get a feeling as to when things are going well. Hope that helps!
Yep, I used the light as an indicator, and definitely make a mistake without realizing it. But I didn't realize it yet :(
