Common Questions and Answers
Hello Friends! I've had a few recurring questions in posts on the Discussions, so I thought I'd list common answers here.
However, I will still of course be reading through all Discussions posted, not to worry! I'll also update this as new questions keep popping up.

  1. I've enjoyed the content that's out so far, but will I have to pay for future Episodes as they're released?

This is an understandable question, and I'm happy to say that if you've bought Not For Broadcast, you will get all content and updates up to and including the full release of the game. No additional costs, nothing else you need to buy. It might be, further down the line, we release DLC, but that's not something we're worrying about right now, and of course will be an addition to the main game.

We're out now in 1.0 as a full game, so buy and enjoy the complete Not For Broadcast story!

  2. Given current events, are you guys still able to make content?

So this one is a definite yes, with a qualifier: We've managed to pivot and come up with an alternative method to shoot remotely, allowing us to be able to deliver a new content update next month. However, Episode 2 and thus the main story is currently on hold, as without a complete rewrite that would be impossible to shoot safely and within guidelines. After the next update, we'll be discussing as a team going forward what next steps will be, and will keep you all informed when we make any decisions!

We'll always be prioritising the safety of our crew and cast when it comes to filming, as well as of course our staff in office. However, we've learned alot in the last two years around safety precautions and what actions we need to keep, so we would hope that any delays to future content for this sort of stuff would be minimal.

  3. I've got technical issues with the game, what's the best way of reporting them?

Emailing "bugs@notgames.co.uk" will ensure our coders get your problem directly and can add it to their to-do list. Please make sure you check out the Reporting Bugs post as to what information is best to provide.

We have a shiny new bug report and FAQ system setup just for your needs dear reader! From now on, please head over to http://support.notgames.co.uk to submit any and all bugs and add them directly to our jobs lists. Not only that, but we've got a direct feedback form right alongside, so any suggestions/ideas for improvements you may have can be submitted here too!

You'll also find a handy troubleshooting guide for common problems here:
    https://notgames.co.uk/troubleshooting-nfb

Don't say we don't treat you!

  4. I've got suggestions/ideas I'd love to see in the game or future content, how do I get in touch?

Well caller, I've got a plethora of possibilities for you! You can post a Discussion here on Steam (though it's worth checking if someone else has already posited your great idea - easier for us to keep track of demand if votes for things are all in one place!); you can go on our Discord and post in the Feedback channel; you can email us directly at "hello@notgames.co.uk".
We regularly check all of these so rest assured if you take the time to get in touch, we'll make the effort to read it. I'll aim to reply the next working day (I generally take weekends off, though sometimes not from work. The life of an Early Access Dev rarely stops!).

  5. I'd love to play this unique and fancy looking game, but I don't own a Windows PC, I'm on Mac/Linux/Console/Want it on VR. Do you have any plans for this?

What a handsome question! We do indeed, but unfortunately the old porting of games malarkey is something that never proves as simple as it should. We will get as many of these done as soon as we can, but the realistic time frame to expect any would be at the end of our Early Access period coming to full release, or (hopefully) shortly after.

  6. At the moment, the between level stories feel a little unimpactful and disconnected from the main story, will this change?

Ah ha, an excellent inquiry. At the moment, the between level stories (which we call Incidents), have only had two sections to play into, and you've only had 3 Broadcasts as well. The first Episode had a lot of plates to juggle, in forming a tutorial to establish Not For Broadcast's gameplay; a narrative introduction to the world at large; and to establish that choices have consequences (see Mr Snugglehugs Advert).
Moving forward, the choices you've made and continue to make will not only customise the story you play later down the line, but will tie into and impact the Broadcast decisions you make in the Control Room as well (and of course, vice versa).
The aim is to have a diverging story that differs on multiple levels between you and your friends, based on how you the play the game. It's a lofty goal we know, but we hope to hit it well! The next content update should give you a taste of what we're talking about.

EDIT: For those of you who have now played Episode 2, hopefully you'll agree that consequences have no really started to hit home...
  7. [/strike]If you've played the full game, you'll have seen just how large these consequences are, and how much they tie in to the broadcast decisions you make. Play on dear Broadcasters, play on...
  8. Are there any bloopers/behind the scenes content available?

Well, with the amount of footage we've shot so far I'd be very disappointed if there wasn't! Some content I believe is already out, available on youtube and the like. We will also going forward be adding the cream of the crop to our game in the Extras Menu itself (or that's the hope). You can also find a feature length documentary right here on Steam explaining how we continued filming and making the game during a global pandemic!

  9. When it comes to answering questions, do you actually read what people write, or just type random words and hope it makes sense?

About quarter past Tuesday Yes, I diligently read through all comments and make sure my responses are (I hope!) useful and straight forward.

  10. With everything that's happening, I have more time to view content than ever before, and you guys are sometimes vaguely funny. Is there anywhere I can find additional stuff featuring the NotGames team?

Look no further! If it's memes you're after, the off-topic chanel of our Discord will provide some interesting pictures of the four Devs. We're also trying to start live streaming more regularly, and will post in the general Discord channel when we remember to let people know - our Twitch is "NotGamesUK". Full disclaimer, streaming is still new for us so our antics could charitably be described as "amateur at best". But hey, feel free to come troll us when we're on, any viewer's a good viewer!

And on that note our Discord link is:
    https://discord.gg/notforbroadcast

Right, that's everything I can think of for now, I'll add to this list periodically as time goes on. Keep safe, keep gaming.
Khaotk.

Hey guys. What's your Discord link? (Even if it's elsewhere, might be handy for people to have it here.)

Turn the power on! Can't load tapes if the power's off
The tape slot highlights when you're holding the tape in the right place!

Hi Psychadelic Sanvich,

There's a whole other post about request for VR - you're far from alone in wanting it! We actually originally planned the whole game to be in VR, but were advised by our Publisher to do the main port first, then look into VR later. So we'd love to do it, but if we do it won't be until after the full release out of Early Access :)

Hi, please any Linux distro compatible with Windows10, Debian, Mint or windows7-64bits to run this game?
Khaotk  [developer] Nov 11, 2020 @ 3:13am
Hi rebX999,

While we'd love to release on all platforms, it's unfortunately not as simple as we'd like. We will be hoping to port to Mac & Linux around the time we come out of Early Access but at this time can't commit to that as these things have a tendency to be more complicated than they should be!

But rest assured it is a priority for us and is something we're thinking about :)

How is the development stage?
Khaotk  [developer] Nov 17, 2020 @ 3:20am
Hi Nenkk (Cacatua) | {LINK REMOVED},

Do you mean about something specific or in general? :)

This year has obviously been incredibly challenging for everyone, but for us it's proved particularly problematic when it comes to filming. Trying to keep everyone safe and protected was our priority, which added numerous layers of complications to filming with our actors and crew, as I'm sure you can imagine.

I am however happy to say we're coming towards the end of the filming required for Episode 2, and are currently on schedule to release it (as well as a number of other significant features/add ons/updates) at the end of January 2021, as per our Date Announcement Trailer! Though we'll see how it all goes from here to there :P

What's the progress on implementing the blackscreenfix beta into the updates? I'm reliant on it to solve my video problems but I don't seem to have access to episode 2 because of it.
