maybe an update in future will show more images or something on the tv screen?
Let me start by saying that I ♥♥♥♥ing love this game. The core game play is the the most fun I've had with a niche sim in a very long time. I couldn't stop thinking about coming back home to replay all day. In the meantime, I ended up watching videos on youtube of a guy filming his being a technical director (the term in the US for what this game simulates) for his local news station (which was awesome). My point being, I'm very excited about the future of this game. I think every part about the game while you're sitting at the console is wonderful. Funny acting, commercials, skits, writing, and my god, more rhythm game cut sequences in the future please! I think that's my favorite part.
However, in the hopes of offering constructive criticism to make the game even better, I must confess that I find the writing lacking in the text based intermissions between broadcasts. I found myself yelling at the screen to get on with it already until I had finally started the 3rd broadcast. I picked the option to work overtime when boseman asked me to solely in the vain hope that it would trigger another broadcast. That is a very clear indication that I care nothing for these characters as people. If I did, if the characters were developed as fleshed out people that we come to know and care about, that would be a different story. If the writing was good enough, I would even consider skipping out on a bonus broadcast just to appease my spouse. And I might do it too... I'm a real sucker for really well written empathy driven games.
This game would be ♥♥♥♥ing legendary if that were to happen. So, please, with the money that you make from these early access sales, use some of it to research and hire a really good writer to fix these parts.
To whoever wrote these parts, I'm sorry, I'm not intending to target you individually. That's what early access is for, to smooth out the rough edges. Everyone wants something truly great, and this game is so close to having it all.
I'd like to end with the highest praise I can give this game, which is that it sometimes reminds me of The Day Today, with Chris Morris. Like in the first episode where he says 'sounds like sour grapes to me, Geoff', that's so Chris Morris, lol.
I also didn't agree with the "twisted stomach" Alex had if he refuses to give the passport. Despite asking Chris for more information, I didn't get any real info why he was so upset to get out. He seemed more like some stranger rich adult who didn't really care about any details and was hoping to run away because "muh sOciAliSm ish bad", which honestly left me confused again as to how I knew him.
Otherwise it seemed like a good contrasting mechanic to me. Life decisions in the passing time before major stressful days at the editing console.. All valid opinions in this thread so far though.
I'm sorry for my poor choice of words then. I mean, you can hear some things in context to what you read, that much is true. But as previous posters have said, there is "some" confusion with the family names, which would be solved if you could see the characters there, sitting at the table, staring at you. It is true that you can see the Advance envelopes or things like that, but... I feel that something is, indeed, missing. I hope I made myself more clear.
