Nicknames
I'm from an English-speaking country, so the meaning and symbolism behind many of the nicknames doesn't come through. Could someone familiar with Chinese culture and language explain the meaning behind some of these nicknames?

AhYu / AYu - sweetfish?
AhJiu / AJiu - maternal uncle, brother-in-law, or "ninth brother"?

There is also another one for YiGuang aside from XiShi that you only see once or twice during his own route, but I can't recall it at the moment. I will either update this post later or someone else can fill in the missing nickname.

Can someone explain these nicknames?

AJiu , GouJian‘s another name is 鸠浅 JiuQian, “Jiu" is his family name which sounds like Chinese characters "Jiu".

Chinese culture places a heavy emphasis on naming, as one person can have multiple names ranging from "Casual nicknames between childhood friends" to "Formal names granted on the verge of adulthood."

In these cases, this style of nickname = simply putting "Ah-" in front of a portion of that person's name. Those kinds of nicknames are, as you might expect, a sign of affection/closeness for a person.
