Try ScriptWelder's other games "Don't Escape Trilogy" and "Don't Escape 4". Beyond ScriptWelder, you could give "The Last Door" a shot. It's not the same but hits similar notes (Pixel, horror, point and click)

I agree with Jack B Nymble and I would also add the Forgotten Hill series (more gore, though)

Sorry it's been a while since the topic was originally posted before I saw it, but just in case you're still looking (or anyone else is), I thought I'd add some suggestions.

First, I agree w/ the suggestions above, I have played all of those and they're great. I can think of another Scriptwelder game I'd personally like to play again but it's not really horror (at least not that I remember-- it's been a while) and I'm not sure if you're looking for something with a similar style to his, or the horror aspect. It also only exists as a Flash game right now as far as I'm aware.

The next most similar suggestion I can come up for tone is the Submachine Series by Mateusz Skutnik (he has a compilation sold directly on his website or you can search up the original free Flash games if you're able to play them).

I'd also highly recommend Bad Dream: Coma.

Moving away from centre a bit, there are the Cube Escape/Rusty Lake series of games as well.

You're welcome, me too! I just noticed I haven't played the Forgotten Hill series actually, so I'll be checking those games out when I have more time. If you have any more to suggest yourself, I'd love to see!

Lone Survivor: Directors Cut is excellent too, is also a point-and-click pixel art horror game. It's a bit more involved though (food system, you can use a gun, etc), but it hits a lot of the same notes and is an excellent game.

Not horror but finding Primordia to be pretty good

@kanna

Speaking of Mateusz Skutnik, looks like his titles will be coming to Steam at some point, following his latest release.

I've had him in my "Follow" list (and Submachine Legacy in my Wishlist) for a while now, but I'm not sure if I heard of this one. Thanks!

(I never remember to check my Follows in general, but in this case I vaguely remember reading something about it being sometime in late 2022,at the very earliest, when the next Submachine could be released? I'll have to dig that up again.)

Fair warning, I haven't played this yet but it just caught my eye because the style reminded me so much of Scriptwelder. I'm sitting on the fence about it until more reviews come in. Maybe some of you souls are braver than I.

Edit: Turns out ScriptWelder has a Twitter account and posted about this game so that's about as good an endorsement as I can get.

Edit2: Played it. Can confirm that this game is inspired by the Don't Escape games.

Alawar and Nevosoft has plently of those point-n-click quests. If you wish for like pixelated and real classic ones, go for DOS ones, they're still amazing. Also try Clock Tower for SNES, you do not need exactly the console you can emulate it and play with mouse which is better. Also there is a discussion post in the DE4 discussion which also has lots of suggestions.
Stanley博士的家
It's a flash game made by a Chinese indie developer, and is well known for many young Chinese(We played it on computer classes in primary school). It's been years, but still with good plot and puzzles.
