What kind of stuff can MD create?
Hey everybody,

I've been looking at MD for a while now. I was wondering what all it can make as far as outfits go. I see a lot of tutorials about shirts, blouses, pants and skirts. But i was wondering if it can also do things like for fantasy settings medieval style leather or plate armor, and boots. For military settings things like bulletproof vests and combat boots.

i just saw this and yes, *bump* ... its a totally out of my budget steep range but ive been wrestling with trying clothes for MBlab characters in blender so long ... i couldnt afford it if i wanted to right now but yea can it do medieval ? dark fantasy ? what does it output ? can i just get it into blender/MBlab and start posing or animating without it looking like my character has been rolling around in a puddle of bubble-gum ? Daz 3d ? makehuman ? kvesthuns kvesthuns:FFXIII2mirochu:

You can make anything cloth related, tents, clothing, of any kind, the sky is the limit.... Back packs, leather boots, shoes..etc..

What about stuff like plate armor (not chain mail), bullet proof vests (the kinds with plate inserts on the front and back) and like bomb disposal armor?

Theoretically it's doable, but most of the direct ways of editing the material are in 2D space (measuring, cutting, sewing). The 3D tools are mainly for assisting the physics simulation (moving/rotating, tugging, pinning). Trying to create a rigid, specific shape like a lobster gauntlet with those methods would be extremely difficult and counter-intuitive, as opposed to conventional modeling software like 3DS Max or Blender that give you more tools to finely control the shape.

But for stuff like leather boots, pouches, tents, kevlar, MD is really great.

I answered above. :) but plate armor you would create a mesh in a 3d software typically.
