Can´t save the game
On a mac book pro High Sierra 10.13.1
The autosave does not work. I do get the message saving not successful, wanna retry? Clicking yes for the retry has no effect. I can choose the save game slot in the options menu but that also does not have an effect. Leaving the game I am prompted again, but the save ain´t successful.
So each time I start the game my character´s name has been saved, but I start on the tutorial.
Any ideas?

No biggy: Deleting and creating a new profile with selecting a save slot before the first auto save attempt of the game has done the trick.

All good and well now.

I have run into this issue and tried what you suggested. I can confirm it does not work.

For anyone that comes across this I had the same issue. What op found as a solution does work it just needs to be done in a particular order.

1. Fresh install the game and be sure to delete any remaining profiles or saves.

2. Enable launch as administrator option for the game in the install directory. On the launcher.

3. Disable any antivirus that might be stopping the game from being able to write to the folder where your profiles are saved.

4. Create a fresh profile and a new game.

5. After the intro cutscenes and before you walk down the stairs to summon the first 3 minions press escape.

6. Under options select "change save slot"

7. Select the second slot in the list instead of the first. They will all be empty.

8. Re enable your anti virus if you wish. I'm unsure this has any effect but it is just precautionary.

This worked for me. Changing the save state after this point has no effect. It must be changed before the first auto save attemp I guess.

If anyone knows how to stop it from freezing the PC when you alt-tab on windows 11 id appreciate it.

Have a good one. And I hope this helps someone

Dude, you’re a lifesaver. Thank you!
im having a lot of trouble. i didnt see this before installing and now i try to uninstall it and reinstall it but no luck. my antivirus is windows defender but i dont think its doing anything to mess with my game. it still wont autosave. could you please help with this? how do i get a fresh install of the game if it was installed before?
My fix is by installing vanilla overlord then making the profiles and playing to the first save point then exiting the game without installing raising hell.

once the save file has been made then i install the expansions and then i can save with no issues.

You need to make the initial save on the Vanilla game once it saves then you can install raising hell.
