Is this a dating game?

Was looking at buying Hiveswap acts 1 & 2 and noticed that the entire Homestuck collection is going for only about a dollar more during the Steam Summer Sale. However, I'm somewhat confused as to whether Pesterquest & Hiveswap Friend-sim are supposed to be regular visual novels or dating sims? I'll probably pass if they're dating sims since I'm honestly not very into that sort of thing.

They're Friend-sims in that they're Visual Novels where the main character has the goal of befriending certain characters in each section of the game. There's of course some larger wrap-around plot but it's heavily character-interaction-based. Not sure if I helped any, but I tried

They're not dating sims, think visual novel with overarching story/lore
