Why is Terezi fat?
She wasn't fat in Homestuck, what gives?

Honestly the fact that only the female characters are going through these changes seems intentional. The guys all remain hot-anime dudes, and a majority of the female cast that was considered easy on the eyes was drastically changed. Nepeta wasn't changed much because the comic already established that she basically smells like cat-piss and she gets a tough enough break as it is. Jade wasn't really changed, but the epilogue made sure to go into detail on how she has a big doggie ♥♥♥♥ so they probably didn't need to change anything about her. Vriska had a sudden shift in her gender identity, and great care was taken in her route to explain how unhygenic she was and how greasy her hair is. Terezi became chubby.

Roxy had her entire artwork changed, and I don't know if they realize the irony here but the whole ''it's inclusive'' thing is funny considering they made the character who is of a class that STEALS THINGS their go-to black character design, I guess they didn't think Meenah gave that image enough on her own.

I suppose you could probably justify Janes design choice since Caliborn does call her out on being fat and she bakes cakes all the time, she's also a rich white person and what better way to signify that than to make them chunky amirite. Although I can't explain Aradia not having a drastic change, only that she seems to be megalovania's love child and she's already a bit crazy in the head(i.e, not ''normal'') so it's possible they didn't feel the need to change her.

So we can kind of assume a formula for the artistic choices post-canon homestuck has.

If the character is a guy, it's perfectly fine for them to be ''normal'', possibly attractive. Even the most horrible people like Eridan are faithful to their design and easy on the eyes. If the character is female and doesn't really have much wrong with their mental state or upbringing(Roxie is different, she OVERCAME her horrible life situation, grew up and got ♥♥♥♥ done while her friends were busy with their drama), they need to have drastic changes made to them so that people can feel more confident in themselves or included.

I don't think this is 100% accurate but I think there's a clear pattern at work here, and if HS ever gets something akin to a Pesterquest 2 I would assume that they'll take these patterns to other characters with few exceptions like Feferi who seemed to be faithful to her original design, although you could chalk that up to Feferi already getting some of the worst treatment in Homestuck period so maybe they just cut her some slack.

does it really matter how skinny or fat she is? she is still the same character no matter her weight. i honestly don't think anything has changed. she is still terezi, it shouldn't matter if she goes out running for hours on end or if she spends time in her room eating food she likes.

It clearly matters to some people, otherwise it wouldn't get brought up.

Personally, the way Jade changed in the epilogues, and the way Terezi changed here. It feels like it's being made specifically to piss on strait dudes. Now if you aren't strait that's no problem, but that malice is even a possible conclusion is concerning to say the least.

As for the likelihood of her being fat. She lives up a freaking tree, she has to do a bunch of physical labor to move her books, food, and self into her house. There is no reasonable way she would get this heavy without paying for everything to get delivered to her. And that lifestyle would put her life in peril, since she was like the troll equivalent of an 8 year old when she started flarping.

What I'm saying is it doesn't have an accessible explanation, it's an unexpected change, it has no real value to the narrative, or the character, and it has a suspicious proximity to an accursed political agenda. We have plenty of reason to be annoyed. :steamfacepalm:

Most of the sprites are just people pushing headcanons because they can. It's not very proper. The good ones are really good, while the bad ones are tough to look at, or just plain wrong despite having good art quality.

Did you read the comic?

Pretty sure it's also a call back to an old joke where Vriska's sprite or something got scaled wrong making her look short n' chubby, and as a nod they gave Terezi that trait and made Vriska the tall skinny one instead.

Case in point.

You know. This discussion is kinda old. But i want to point out something. I saw her sprite and I looked up for a reason for why her body shape was more rounded then the Homestuck Comic. And yes like you all have said it dosnt really matter. But with anything if one thing is out of place or changed then people will be curious and want to know. Personality I think it was done to give more variety to the characters and lore. Even though it really dosnt matter. Oh well

it is important to note that like 2-4 years pass before you see her in an actual cutscene, also, a pretty terrible hill to die on honestly, shes not even that overweight, probably not even considered overweight at all.
akechiImpala Sep 7, 2021 @ 12:15pm
they all had the same body type in the comic, when they changed the art style, the body types diversified. sorry they're not all skinny minis. ♥♥♥♥ you op

why do you feel so attacked by a 13 year old being fat, don't you have a tf2 match to lose?
