Why is Terezi fat?
She wasn't fat in Homestuck, what gives?

What makes you think she wasn't? All of them were drawn with the same body shape, any of them could have been any weight.

For the most part but there were also non-game-style drawings and you could clearly see she wasn't fat.

Her belly is wider than both hips and shoulders, that's "fat" in my book.

Why does it matter to you whether the at-this-time-twelve-years-old female character is fat or not?

yeah it makes no sense, her character design is supposed to be spiky lol

Only because it was changed.

i think its just an artistic style. Who knows, maybe in sgrub she does her stuff and works out, getting her a more slimmer body shape. I wouldnt say shes fat though. More of just a different body shape :3

I doubt that. She spends most of her time roleplaying by herself in her treehouse, and she knows what a vast variety of candy tastes like so she can use it as colour comparisons, and why do you think her diet's not fattening when we never to my knowledge see her eat an actual meal?

She's not fat, she's stocky. All of the characters in the original comic had the same body types, even in Hero Mode, so you can't judge anything by that. A troll's strength seems to be mostly a factor of blood color, not physical appearance, so it wouldn't make her weak either.

If anything, there's more to complain about with her being SHORT than her weight. That actually does make her being able to casually lug Gamzee's unconscious body around a little questionable. She might be able to lift him, but carry him?

That has its own problem, even if she's physically capable; if she could do that, why didn't she do it during Murderstuck before John showed up and save everyone a lot of trouble? Why did she need John to tell her to?

There wasn't an actual "canon" body type in HS. It is true that many of the art that we saw on the comic show us all the characters being with a "neutral" body type (and that was kind of the best actually); but in the end, a huge part of the art on the [S] where made by fans, so dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What happened here is something called "headcanon", and is the representation of the character by an specific artist, and for HS there are so many, like A LOT:
- Jane, Aradia and Feferi being chubby
- Karkat, Nepeta and Terezi being the smaller ones of the team
- Gamzee and Kanaya being the taller ones (my fav headcanon)
- Eridan having his hair tainted violet from blonde
- Karkat being fluffy and fat
- John, Jade, Jake and Jane having dark skin tones
- Vriska being smaller than Terezi
and a jillion more

In the end, depends of the artist how they portrayed the characters here, and is the same with the writters of the routes with the scripts :torielsad:

(I have to admit, I didn't like it that much at first, but trust me... it could be worst)

I personally really like her sprites, and I saw someone's headcanon that Terezi was a little chubby, but the fighting in Sgrub whipped her into shape pretty quick.

Also, would you have even noticed her weight enough to comment on it if she was a boy?

Implying implications. The issue is change without as much as retcon, would've been the same deal if they changed horns shape or blood color.

Yeah, I'm not liking, personally, how the artists are kinda throwing headcanons in there. This is like officially licensed fan fiction.
The Striders and Lalondes were very specifically described as albino, pale, etc, it was kind of the joke behind the Striders, and they're directly related to the Lalondes. But the artist for Roxy in the newest installation is known for 'blackening' up their character designs. Which. Is part of why Roxy... looks the way she does.
