Do you mean Friendsims too? Because this is Pesterquest

I mean, to be fair, there is enough vague writing that you probably don't need to read everything else... but I'd say you'd get significantly more out of Pesterquest if you read all of Homestuck (and Friendsim to a lesser extent) first.
I'd say it's more than likely going to freely spoil parts of Homestuck in any case, or at least assume you read it. The protagonist being kind of clueless softens it a bit, I think.

I'd definitely recommend it, considering there's probably going to be epilogue spoilers in game at some point. It's also a good idea to play Friendsim!

I personally would. Just for the sake of this game I read the entire epilogue(s) when I vowed to never go back (even though I enjoyed a lot of it but man did it drag on at times) after reading EVERY. SINGLE. PAGE. I'd also say to maybe play Hiveswap Friendsim first too because it'll make Pesterquest make more sense. Playing Pesterquest after reading all of Homestuck will be nostalgic and will feel more sentimental with certain characters.

You'll get a lot more out of it by reading homestuck first, and there *are* Friendsim spoilers.

Play Friendsim for sure. As for Homestuck, most of it isn't so much 'spoiler' territory as it is 'unexplored' territory, but it definitely brings a new light to the Homestuck canon proper.

Every volume demands different knowledge of the source material
John's route, for example, will make more sense if you finish reading Homestuck plus The Homestuck Epilogues.
But Rose's doesn't need to go that far.
For the trolls' routes I STRONGLY recommend at least finishing Act 5 bc some escenes will make more sense that way,
Also there are glimpses of Friendsim too, pretty subtle in some volumes, but more explicit in this new update (Volume 5-6)
So... yeah. It's probably best if you continue reading Homestuck (plus Epilogues plus playing Friendsim) before trying Pesterquest

I did not play friend sim and I missed out on a few of the references, as for homestuck you dont have to have read the whole thing, at up to about Lord English and Doc Scratch to get most of it (Which is, i will admit , pretty far. Its at the end of Act 5 and beginning of act 6). I think you can get away with just up to Doc Scratch's introduction (Act 5 Act 1 at the very least so you know the characters) Thats at least up to volume 7. As other Volumes come out it may go deeper into the lore.

Well, given where the game seems to be going, I think anyone who hasn't finished homestuck is going to be completely in the dark and it's going to ruin the experience for you.
