Mini Golf play possible?
Since picking up this title a few weeks back I have mostly gone with "realistic" style courses, and have a couple of Links and Parkland types created.

Not really toyed too much with the funky gadgets (beyond the teleporter waypoint on my 18th holes, for fun) and want to do so with a Mini Golf style course to begin with. By that I mean all green, with a decent amount of gadgets and obstacles to spice up the holes.

Thing is, the guests don't really take the hint from being all green and still start with drivers or irons.

Now the Putting Green exists, but I don't really care for how it works. You can't really make holes out of it. I still want a 9-18 hole golf course, just Mini/Crazy Golf style.

Any way to trick/force the players to at least limit themselves to wedges and putters?

The tee-box comes with its own hunk of fairway, so they will always use a driver or iron from that point. Mini golf and classic golf are pretty functionally different. For example, golfers can not predict if they can reach the hole if they bounce the ball off 3 walled surfaces like they might if it were a mini golf game. If GolfTopia where a mini-golf game, the AI would have to be coded very differently. GolfTopia isn’t a mini-golf game as much as a mega golf game, that does take inspiration from mini-golf, among other things.

You may want to take a look at the putting green, as golfers will only use a putter on those.

As stated, can't really make holes on the Putting Green, as you designed them to be short range target practice. I mean, you can lay 18 individual Putting Greens, but each will be a few feet at best.

So, in short, no basically. Fair enough. I do also plan on having a "double length par holes" course that makes use of gadgets to cut down on required swings, to make them "normal pars". But doing Wedge/Putting only is not possible.

As an aside, you mention

but it is a fixed ground type. So if using the Firm Fairway ground you get patches of standard fairway. Several of the gadgets are like this, such as the Golf Marker. Just makes ugly blobs of Standard Fairway if using Firm Fairway.

Any chance of adding a ground toggle to these sort of placeables (Standard/Firm toggle)? That way Green could be an option too and the AI may/could be programmed to start with a Wedge.

EDIT: I did toy with using Fans behind the Tee at around 50% height to try and lengthen drives, but instead they actually kill any ball flight once the ball enters its cone of vision. It served to keep the balls grounded which helps me make a Mini/Crazy Golf course, but is that what is intended?

Fans at 0% height will boost Tee shots, but will kill any momentum if a ball flies into a raised Fan.

I shall think about adding a fairway type toggle and see what I come up with.

Thanks for adding the fairway types to placeables, I would have liked Green added to the Tee also, but this is great. Be able to make use of Firm Fairways far more now.
