All I can suggest is to go back to the beta branch, when things were "okay"... I have given up pretty much, except for helping people try to salvage what they liked from the game that has now been wrecked. Best of luck.
Most people don't subscribe to a developer's obscure platform just for the sake of one game.
You get the most feedback and gossip from the market you sell your product in. It isn't rocket science.
So much potential...wasted.
Its sad.
This whole side of the community (Steam Discussions) is as shocked as you are fren =[
No idea what is going on over there with the Dev Team...
Now they have switched basically to a level up system. You complete something, you level up and they give you your new options. Then you pick and choose which things you dump steel into to upgrade. Nevermind the fact that if you stay active you can just max out everything about halfway through the game.
It makes most things feel less special. You don't have to succeed to get unlocks. You don't have to choose between different things. And you definitely won't have to play the game twice because the second time won't be different.
This gameplay choice is just making it good only for the people that don't play adventure games. This is for people that play Super Mario and still have indecision issues about which pipe to take.
I count that as a blessing, I'm pretty sure if I played EA for long my impressions of the game would be vastly different. Ignorance is bliss I guess...
So I really don't know what made them do it. Maybe as a way to save time or something small focus groups or the publisher told them.
I had no idea the game got stripped so much, I enjoy it, but the beta seems more interesting. But I see little to no point playing it if it is unfinished.
I didnt know streamlined meant boring/basic :(
Come to think of it if you go into the comment section of that announcement people are complaining about the same things everyone is doing now except Devs went forward with it anyhow (shrug)
Oh well. Going to play this all the way to the end but not going to lie, so far i am dissapointed.
I wasn't disappointed until I read everything that was removed.
Then I realized I was playing a pixel art far cry game.
Lots of potential, the depth of a puddle, liberating outposts, grinding resources and collectables, linear story and progression in a large open world, meaningless side activities...
The first time I captured an island, I thought it would produce resources, those resources would help improve my equipment and the fathership, but nope.
Capturing big ships? Useless, it just gives resources.
I had played it in early access you see, bought it two years ago and my expectations were they were going to just improve the base game mechanics and finish the story and maybe improve the scene transitions etc.....
Thats the reason for my disappointment. After waiting so long and tasting what it was and what it could have been have lead to that feeling.
Its not a bad game by any stretch.......just.....i dont know how to describe my feelings lol.
This was supposed to scratch my itch for an old gamecube game called "Skies of Arcadia". Not much similarities other then skies, flying ships, pirates and fighting but still.........
