One step forward, three steps back. I really think you need to have a long chat with your QA team.
With that said I do like the EA version better and I am kinda glad you can still play that version of it. I wont say this new different version is bad..but it's definitely not as good and a bit hollow.
Early Access adoption comes with inherent risks, but there are PLENTY of small developers that have made Early Access one of the best testing and constructive feedback platforms available. "Tiny Rouges", is an example of what to do right in EA, and how to listen to supporters, using the very simple tool of STEAM FORUMS... without having to look at disgusting stuff on a Discord full of degenerates... just to make a suggestion and give constructive feedback.
I hope these Dev's figure stuff out, but they way it looks, they got their money... and there will be little positive progress... and the game will wither away even more than it already has. Best of luck, gonna need it.
Every feature got over simplified, to put it nicely, but if we were blunt about it, features were straight up dumbed down, absolutely butchered!! They are a boring progression that isn't even fun, a straight up increase in numbers that you dont really ever get to enjoy as the enemies scale as good if not better than your own upgrades. Crafting is dearly missed, like weapon stats, ship tech, and armor. What's most disgusting is that it was done without any care, tons of materials were left in the game with no use for them at all, you can clearly see they don't really give a F and were happy about the EA money.
Story change is nonsensical, not because new story is bad, it's defintively worse than the old one, but that's not as bad as the fact that the new narration is SO MUCH WORSE, the events timing, the dialogues, everything feels like a downgrade, and the ending ugh, they should have just told you to go play starcraft.
I dont remember that well the old gameplay, but this new gameplay didnt feel right to me, I played in hard and I think I "died" a handful of times from being distracted, there wasn't much of a challenge at all, and the scenarios by the alien guy are just not fun, straight up a chore, but what's worse is that the rewards are terrible for how long they are, you have to do so many scenarios to get a single weapon that you dont need at all because at that point u have cleared virtually all the content.
Where are the new ships? Where are the new islands? Where is... the 1 year of extra content they could'v added to a solid game?
Honestly this was a total let down, and the worse part is that every change has the marks of a developer who was happy to take the money and run, it's not the worst game you could play by any means, but knowing that it used to be better, it's really not worth anyone's time now.
Because going with an incredibly generic story and incredibly generic game mechanics is the "safe" choice in game development. The game no long tries to do anything special, which means it is less likely to do things "wrong" but also means nothing they do right is new and exciting.
They went with a safe, generic game, and that sucks for a game that had so much character.
The thing I am a bit more interested in is the story. It seems like everyone agrees that it is just worse. People the old story is a lot riskier. People saying the main character had dealings with the falcons in the past? I have just started out so I wouldn't want to be spoiled on the new story. But could someone tell me what the EA version was like?
I am having fun with this game so far. but I would like to hear your opinions because you guys know before and after and I only know after.
Its sad.
Indeed. I probably will pull back a lot of Early Access support just due to this Dev's actions. Gonna just enjoy the great games I have, and bide my time. I know for a fact I will never support this studio again, and will spread the word far and wide. These Dev's can get bent... It's a shame they got what little they did of my money.
HOPEFULLY, they will let the game die, as it should be... frakking mess. It's a highly derivative story with no attention to detail. This game had soul, that soul has been ripped out, and replaced by derivative garbage... let it die.
