This post contains some of the most frequently asked questions about Black Skylands, as well the most common issues and temporary workarounds.

Q.: Does this game have a co-op mode?
A.: No, Black Skylands is a single-player game.

Q.: Any chance for co-op, either local or online, to be added in the future?
A.: We can’t promise this. We’re considering the possibility. The plan is to add multiplayer elements in the future: PvP mode, battle arena, etc.

Q.: Will Black Skylands be coming to consoles in the future?
A.: It is quite possible but we can’t confirm that yet. That’s something that we really want to do though.

Q.: Will this ever be available on Linux? Mac?
A.: Same: possible but can’t confirm.

Q.: When will Black Skylands see its final release?
A.: The ETA is 2022. This may change though. Our plan is to release the game when it’s ready.

Q.: Is there a roadmap somewhere that I can check out?

Q.: How complete is the early access version?
A.: About 70% of the game is done. Black Skylands is a full-fledged experience and is perfectly playable in its current state. We will be adding content in the future: new islands, side quests, ships, weapons, mods, components, sidekicks, new gameplay mechanics, etc.

Q.: Will the story change much?
A.: Possibly. Gameplay changes can result in story revisions.

Q.: What happened to the former male protagonist, Walter? Will he ever come back?
A.: Our decision to change the protagonist was based on the story revision. A female protagonist fits the reworked plot better. Walter may return as a character in the future, yes.

Q.: Why not give us the option to choose a playable character?
A.: An option to choose a character would require enormous amounts of code changes to be implemented. This is something that may be added someday.

Q.: Will you add more languages?
A.: Not in the near future.

Q.: Is the world procedurally generated?
A.: The Swarm zone is generated randomly when you load the game. The rest of the world is invariable.

Q.: Where can I find the save game file?
A.:

1. Open a file explorer window;
   
2. Copy this path: C:\Users%\Username%\AppData\LocalLow\HungryCouch\BlackSkylands\Saves, then paste it into the address bar;
   
3. In the folder that opens, you will find folders named "Profile[number]". Save files for different player profiles are stored there.

🛠️ KNOWN ISSUES | WORKAROUNDS 🛠️

⚠️ Please make sure your game is updated and the latest build version is installed on your PC ⚠️

ISSUE: I lost my save!
WORKAROUND: Try verifying the integrity of the game files:

1. Right click the game in your Steam library, select Properties…
   
2. Select LOCAL FILES, then click on Verify integrity of game files...

A restart may also solve the issue. If this doesn’t help, try reinstalling your game: the save, which is backed up by the Steam cloud, will be re-downloaded.

ISSUE: I accidentally started a new game and all my progress is gone!
WORKAROUND: Please, ping me, @Antishyr, or shoot me a direct message: I will be able to help you out with creating a new save file. Multiple save slots will be added in the near future. ETA: July/August, a top priority for us right after we iron out the most outstanding issues.

ISSUE: My game has crashed!
WORKAROUND: Report this crash to us:

1. Open a file explorer window;
   
2. Copy this path: C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Temp\HungryCouch\BlackSkylands\Crashes, then paste it in the file explorer window address bar;
   
3. That folder contains separate folders for separate crashes. The folder name has time/date of a crash, so you should be able to identify the one that you need;
   
4. Share the crash report files with us using a file hosting service.

ISSUE: My screen went black! All I can see are the dialogues!
WORKAROUND: Restart Black Skylands.

ISSUE: The sky in my game is green! Like this: https://imgur.com/sknIgek.
WORKAROUND: This issue may happen on weaker machines and PCs with integrated graphics. We haven't been able to fully investigate it yet. If you're experiencing this issue, please try updating your graphics card drivers and installing the newest version of DirectX.

ISSUE: My character is stuck in textures! What should I do?
WORKAROUND: Press and hold down C to call your moth Luma - it will take you back to your skyship.
