It's been a long time. A lot has been happening in my personal life. Most notably, I'm a daddy now! So that's pretty cool. 😁

I'd like to apologize for lack of communication on my front. It's something I'd like to get much better at. I just didn't want to share anything unless it was noteworthy.

Well, I'd say this post is something noteworthy...

I'm excited to announce, after months of pre-production, careful planning, and heavy consideration, the 2nd installment of Fun with Ragdolls: The Game is on the way! An entirely new game is now in production!

I've been silent, but NOT oblivious to what many of you have been wanting and requesting from tweets, emails, comments, and strongly worded forum posts, lol. I've been taking notes on the major issues with the game. I want and need to address them in this second game.

I don't want to spoil anything, but I can assure you that the second game will be worthy of a new, separate game. For starters there will be:

  • Weapons, including melee weapons!
  • More vehicles! A tank included. :)
  • Completely different gameplay style. While it will stay true to a 3rd person view, the way of playing/controlling the character will be altered and more intuitive.
  • Dedicated in-game level editor that isn't combined with the character. This will open the door to more complex level design systems!
  • Redesign of the world of Fun with Ragdolls, including the ragdoll model themselves.

And one more thing...

I want to be completely honest, but at the same time, I don't want to give false hope. So when I say what I'm about to say, take it with a HEAVY grain of salt.

Local-multiplayer!

Yes, you heard me. You aren't the only ones that want it. As a friendly reminder, FWRTG was my first big game and it just kinda blew up. I've learned a lot since, including better programming patterns and practices. Technology has also improved since FWRTG.

I'm going to try my best to get local-multiplayer working smoothly and right. Even if it doesn't get implemented for whatever reason, I wanted to let you all know I am trying! And if it just crashes and burns, hopefully split-screen will suffice. 😉

As a friendly reminder, if I go quiet, it's not because I've given up or abandoned the game, it's because I'm working hard behind the scenes, just as I have been.

And of course, there are many other exciting big features I’m going to keep quite about for now that I KNOW you guys will love! I can’t spoil everything! Thank you all for your patience during everything. I hope you’re all as excited as I am! You can ask my wife just how stoked I am and she'll tell you, haha!

As I mentioned, it’s so different it’s an entirely new game. Mechanics, gameplay, features, completely different.

A new fun with ragdolls? This is really cool! ive always loved this game and respected our beloved developer for making this game! I love tossing around ragdolls and just building stuff to toss them into! Great game, Cant wait for the second one!

I have mixed, disjointed feelings about this announcement. On the one hand, I did pay 10 precious British pounds for a game (basically a tech demo) which received one update which also added multiple bugs and removed content. However, I do understand that Jadon is a singular developer and making a game is a long, arduous process. This game and community is pretty much empty/dead anyway (if you don't believe me just look at the only 7 comments since the big announcement on the 17th). I don't think any level of major updates will rekindle the playerbase's interest in this game, and maybe a fresh start and reputation is needed for this community to be rebuilt.
Furthermore, if this is a 'completely new' game then I think support for FWRTG should continue as (while I know it's only Mr Barnes here working on it) the game is nevertheless quite expensive for what it is and the players who paid for it should feel like they are listened to and their money is well spent, otherwise they cannot possibly be expected to shill out more of their hard-earned tax-payer's money for a new game when the first one was not exactly impressive. Continuing support with this game could help the smooth and successful release of whatever new game the Developer has in mind.
To add to this, I hope that the main Developer of the new game (which I am thoroughly excited about) will continue support for the new game and monitor the community's requests more closely this time. I am furthermore hopeful that the pricing of this second game will be on par with what consumers expect from other titles in the industry.
I hope that Jadon will keep in better touch with his customers this time as it is essential to the success of a larger project like this.
Overall, while I am disappointed about the likelihood of support for FWRTG ceasing, I am also excited for this new game; 'A tank included. :)' gets me interested in seeing how this will pan out.
To Jadon: congratulations on becoming a father, I wish you the best of luck with your personal life and with the undertaking of this new business venture.

Could you please make the game free for people that bought the original game instead of having to buy 2 versions with one having less content
