Apparently all of the DLC characters are free and included without the purchase of the digital deluxe edition.
Just costumes for 3 wrestlers....I'll pass on that and just get the standard version which will be on Humble Choice.
You would have to rebuy the entire game again as the Deluxe version.
This actually leaves me feeling worse than the travesty that was 2K20.
Yes Edge is available to buy using the in game currency. I just got the game today from the Humble Choice and was a little worried the Deluxe edition items might be exclusive but that does not seem the case as it just saves you some grind.
It would have been one thing to be locked out of some random legend, but quite another for the current Royal Rumble winner.
Could you please provide evidence or anything? Because from what I see on SteamDB there are at least two DLCs that are SOLELY avaliable through buying the Digital Deluxe Edition

So apparently there seems to be content that you are being locked out on when buying the base edition over the Deluxe one
This. The Deluxe Edition gets you the four characters for free (already unlocked). When the game was new, the Deluxe edition also gives you the characters in advance. Base game owners weren't able to purchase them. It's irrelevant now because the grace period is done. The characters are already purchasable for even the base game owners.
It's similar to the strategy that Bandai Namco uses for the timelocked pre-purchase bonuses of their anime games (e.g. Goku Black in Xenoverse 2, and the High End Nomu in My Hero Academia One's Justice 2.)
