i just did all that and when I launch the "demo" (has the full game's files and folders, 4 GB) from Steam, i keep getting an error about the game disc is not in the drive (the retail game is protected with SecuROM DRM)
the securom protection is not a driver or program that we disable in Windows, it is embedded on/in the disc itself (DVD). If i put the disc in the drive, the game will load fine (either from Steam or from the local installation folder.
I am just saying that this method is not working 100%, because old, retail games have disc check DRM, you can not simply copy the whole game to Steam into the demo version, the DRM/disc check will follow too.
yeah, then what's the point of this guide/solution from 🔰ProtivulyaUA🔰 if the game has SecuROM DRM (not all disc release/version/region, but most of them has), if you need to crack the game after in order to have it and run it on Steam too?
You can simply buy the retail version (on amazon, the game costs 10-15$), install that and play it like any other normal PC games before (with the disc in the drive or crack it, that's up to the people) and yes, cracking a game from unknown sites = you get infected with a virus, goodbye your PC, that's another thing, like Gelfan_Dothea said.
I did that too and yes, the retail version of Jericho is SecuROM protected and ask for the disc in the drive, if you don't believe me, check out pcgamingwiki's webpage, it will tell you what old PC game has what protection.
here is the link for you: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Clive_Barker%27s_Jericho
and here is the DRM (protection) info:
Source DRM Notes
Retail Disc check (requires the CD/DVD in the drive to play) SecuROM DRM
Some disc release is only required for installation,
not to play.
Amazon.co.uk Disc check (requires the CD/DVD in the drive to play)
It probably works for you because your version/region doesn't have DRM/Securom, but most versions of this game is SecuROM protected
I tested your method and i got the message upon launching the full game from Steam that there is no CD/DVD inserted in the drive, please insert the game drive, blah, blah.
probably, but your solution then doesn't work for everybody/100%, somebody else who see your guide may have a protected version of the game and he/she must have the disc in the drive in order to play it (not very useful if you want to load it from Steam/no interest.
If your guide is 100% working for everybody else, then it is ok to post it, but for this game, this is not the case (it is a 50/50 situation).
The person can simply install it and play it the normal way, no need to copy files and folders/no need of the demo).
