Game Won't Launch on M1 Mac

Like the title says, the game will not launch on my M1 Macbook despite being listed as Mac compatible. I've run into this issue on a few other games and in some cases you can configure the .app to open using the Rosetta translation layer (right click .app file, check "open with Rosetta" box).

However, that only seems to work with apps of the type "Application (Universal)". When I check the Get Info for DemonCrawl it is specifically listed as kind "Application (Intel)" and there is no option to open with Rosetta. Anybody else currently running this game on an M1 Mac? If so, I'd like to hear about how you have it configured.

I used your exact instructions and then it worked for me on my M1 MacBook Air - launch from steam also works after ticking that box.

Interesting, I wonder why it's not working on my end, maybe I'll reinstall and see if anything changes. Thanks for the comment!

Wasn't running on Intel Mac at the time you created this thread, doesn't run now.

It worked on both my Intel Mac and my current Apple Silicon Mac.

It takes *forever* to start up though. It sits on a black screen for easily a minute before showing the splash screen, so I can see why some people would think it doesn't work.

I seem to only get it to work on my M1 mac if I first Verify the Integrity of the installed files, before EVERY time I launch it. (Click the Gear Icon -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Verify Integrity, then once that is done, run it).

If I do not do that then it either closes within 2 seconds after launch, or is stuck on a blank white screen indefinitely (for at least 2 minutes, before I give up).
