The only stats I have found useful so far is attack speed, life and sanity drain. I've dropped some elemental damage in just so my heavy or light attack will one shot instead of leaving a fraction of life left on basic enemies. Not worth spending the ammo or a second swing time to finish the job.
Thanks for the feedback.
I hadn't responded because I wanted to come back with news, but don't have anything yet.
What I can say is that someone else has already reported this and that it's being investigated. We're considering exposing how this system works a bit more so that it's easier to figure out what the effects are and how they are compatible / incompatible with certain enemies.
Hopefully we'll have some news on this in a future update.
Thanks for all the great feedback!
Thank you)
Might give the player an incentive to farm enemies as opposed to running past them.
The fact that there's such a low cap of 10 on what you can carry kind of discourages item use because you feel like you might not have it when you really need it. I understand doing this with healing and sanity items, but elemental items should have a higher limit.
I am however reading through all of these comments, and there are some good suggestions here. However, there are other issues with the game that I want to deal with first, before getting into the whole elemental damage thing.
For example I took an ice sword and a poison sword up against an Elite ( skulls around the hp bar ) Carcass King.
The ice sword took like a dozen hits, whereas the poison sword killed him in 2 or 3 light attacks. So it seems to me like poison is good against blood-themed enemies
I also went through the docks with the same set up and at first i thought the red squid monsters had resistance to ice, because sometimes they just wouldnt take damage BUT it would also happen with my poison sword and after a few swings they would still die so it may just be a visual bug?
Anyways i personally am enjoying experimenting with the different effects and seeing what works best against who through trial & error, and don't want all the answers just handed to me.
Some ways this could be done however;
-Reveal enemy weaknesses in the Menagerie after x number of kills
-Place hints in npc dialogue or in the lore books
-Add a special visual effect indicating that its doing extra damage to the enemy/ ( ex visual effects could flash a different color, or say instead of snow flakes it shows icicles )
